I miss the custom icons too. It made the forum feel like like an impersonal forum and more like a real community. To me, anyway.

I greatly agree with having multiple themes, especially if people will volunteer to make them That way more people can be happy

My header is changing with the time of day - it's slightly off (it's 6 pm and it shows nighttime) but it is changing.

I would also like to have more of the Tower-specific images - the Flame icons showing if there are new posts and the cathedral background - it makes the forums feel more special

And THANK YOU Erin and Azi and Valo and everyone else who has worked so hard on this! This is a big transition and of course we're going to have rough spots here and there. I know it'll be worked out. Thank you, you guys :grouphug

it's not actually changing with the time of day, I just changed it manually earlier today because the white text was hard to read on the light background. Sorry for messing with your sanity :P

Mine's not changing with the time of day... or it is but it's set to a different time zone (I did go into settings and told it what my time zone was) 'cause it's 11:30am and it thinks it's dark outside. Maybe it's just a time zone thing?

I personally really like the off-white background. It makes the forums looks sleek and elegant. Less is more when it comes to design.

My only complaint about the style is the thread icons: I keep mistaking the "hot" threads as threads with unread messages, since those icons are of a different colour.

The thread icons are a bit confusing. They're highlighted for popular threads, but my reaction when I see a highlighted/brightly coloured thread icon is that there's something new in that thread. I don't react as much to the slightly different patterns in the icons as I do to the colours. That's annoying, since that's how it was at the old board, and since highlighted thread = new posts is a pretty common concept.

Yip, this is the reaction I have. Would highly recommend a switch to "hot" just having a little flame icon on it or something, but otherwise unread is called out in some color, and read is more neutral.

I would love to see the default color for links changed. The gray makes them a little tough to read.

I have a hard time reading low contrast stuff, and the links are just a bit too hard to read for me. The problem areas for me right now are nicks, thread titles, and forum titles. (For the love of Bob, please do not use small text AND low contrast! The sub forums texts are pretty much invisible to me. If it hadn't been for the blue blob, I wouldn't have seen the text at all! :/ )

I don't mind the white background, I just like to be able to find my way around without getting a headache from low contrast reading.

This. Who cares if a thread is hot? Besides, you can tell by page count how active a thread is.
