Okay folks, two small changes for everyone!


Signatures:

You may now (legally) use .png files in your signatures!

The width of signature blocks has been expanded to 450 pixels. This means that you can have any combination of graphic blocks so long as they do not exceed 450 pixels in width.

All other rules remain the same including, but not limited to: Height limit is still 100 pixels. Text lines under graphic blocks are still limited to 2 lines of text. If you have a smiley in your sig that is stretching your text lines, i.e. making it take up more than two, you need to get rid of it or modify your sig.

The new signature guidelines will read thus:

We have a few guidelines in place for the signatures that our Visitors and Community Members use on our forums. These guidelines were effected so that our boards can load in a reasonable amount of time for those Community Members who have slower internet connections and so that Community Members can follow threads easily without having to search through signatures. Signatures must not be excessively wide, nor should they be excessively long or possess flashing logos or scrolling text. Banners must be *.gif , *.png or *.jpg files and may not exceed 450x100 pixels. There may be up to two lines of text in a signature with a banner, no matter the size of the banner. Text-based sigs shall be no more than 10 lines. The use of a few small, personalized emoticons is allowed. Lines including emoticons count for 2 lines, unless the emoticon is on the same line as your signature banner. Please use your discretion with signatures; crude or offensive signatures may be asked to be removed. Relationships not officially recognized by TarValon.Net as familial relationships (such as e-spouses, near-siblings, etc) are not allowed in signatures.

Bonding Wait Time:
We'll be amending the waiting period for Bonding to up to 4 weeks instead of up to 8 weeks. I would just change it to no wait time, but honestly, I've had more than one couple decide to back out before the wait period was over, so we're keeping one. Just shorter.

Once upon a time, we didn't care if you put them in there. So started a rash of people adding every person they PM'd twice with into their signature as a near-sibling. It was silly and overblown and became a competition so we banned it.

Imz mentee's and mentors are part of the offical mentoring program.. and I'm assuming the guesting mentor/mentee names are probably allowed for your ajah guides.. but I can't actually say on that second part 100%

I could be wrong but this is sort of what I'm thinking:

I believe the meaning behind this has less to do with 'what isn't allowed' but what is. Usually what we put in our siggies either in lines or in the graphics can be just about anything we want. Ajai is a line of fun texts, others promote their dorm rooms and some other special relationships (like being someone's Loial or Aviendah). It's all fun and games and generally pretty harmless.

Near-siblings is one step away from First Siblings or even bonds. It takes that fun nature to a more elevated and serious nature without the actual aspect of being 'officially' bonded to that person one way or another. After a point it gets confusing. Even more it can cause drama when friendships fall out or worse. To top it off, 25 near-siblings is fairly extensive and takes up a lot of room. So to save everyone the trouble, restricting these relationship 'billboards' in our siggies to only things that are officially recognized helps keep things from getting out of hand. (As it had once upon a time.)

So, just blame Jeffy. :shifty
