Which ones did you choose? I like it.

Istor is literally "fiction," and I mashed things together to get "Maianel" -- I sort of wanted something starting with ma- to echo "Marie" (which, uh, can mean "important," but that wasn't my reason); feia is "speaker," and yatanel is "story," so smash smash fiddle tweak and I wound up with "Maianel."

my snarky reflex is always to say that I am a Marie Brennan, but in context people are usually asking if I'm the fantasy author Marie Brennan, and the answer to that is yes.
