Where we discuss the double bond, the fact the Aes Sedai didn't really seem to take Gawyn's suggestion from ToM that they all take a Warder as it would have helped both the channeler and the soldier in the Last Battle and the fact that even with the Last Battle right there the Aes Sedai sent to bond Asha'man took their time choosing despite the fact men volunteered.

I really appreciated the moment when Egwene took another Warder immediately after waking from losing Gawyn. It really made a point that bonding is needed for Aes Sedai to be stronger.

I loved that moment too but I wonder what happened to poor Leilwen when Egwene when whoosh? I mean really hasn't that poor woman been through enough?
Also the Androl Pevara story was awesome, and how, I can't remember who said it, but it highlighted how the Ajahs were all changing. But in particular the Reds would need to change, and how they hinted they would probably be the ones working closely with the Asha'man as they had the most experience.

I thought the Androl/Pevarra story was probably one of the best subplots in the novel. At the beginning I was a bit uninterested in characters who, up to this point in the series, had been complete non-entities. But at the end I was enjoying it. I don't understand why their bonding seems to be different from that of Logain and his lot, or Rand and his three (excluding Min here as she can't channel). Or are those bonds one way? :scratch

Paxam, it's because those Bonds are only one-way. Pevara and Androl are the only known pair to have both bonded one another.

Hmm my understanding was that it wasn't only because of them bonding each other, but also because they did that linking thing. So if two people just were to double bond and not link it might not have the same effect?

I also think it is the double bonding, Logain didnt have the same thing with his Aes Sedai and their bond was one way. (him to her)

I loved the insight into the Red Ajah that Silviana provided -- that Warders, while useful, are also a major distraction from what needs to be done.

All men are a distraction...but they are useful also. I think the Reds will no long frown upon bonding, but feel they would only bond Asha'man instead of men who can not channel.

I beleive he did. He noted that someone was hurt but because everything was so distorted and even time was being messed with he had no way of telling which one of th ebonds it was that got hurt. Upon reveal of Alanna in the shape she was in, it became obvious it was her and not one of the other three.

It was before Avi got really hurt that he felt it. I remember flipping back to make sure I hadnt missed one of the three getting hurt as I had forgotten about Alanna. But I am currious how he didnt feel her so near. From the way I read it, she was probably only 10 feet away from Nyn and Moraine when the fun started, you would think her being that close and that hurt he would have noticed her as he started walking down into the pit.

Between the time he got bonded by Alanna and the time he walked into Shayol Ghul, he spent the vast majority of time blocking/blurring her connection to him, I think. I imagine after that long spent actively ignoring her, accidentally missing the fact that she is hurt in the face of WALKING INTO SHAYOL GHUL is probably excusable. Especially when you consider that time and space are relative to each other, and if time is that distorted I wouldn't be surprised if those ten steps were more like a thousand miles when it comes to the One Power. :look:

I don't have the book right next to me, but Pevara had been trained to keep a tight hold on her own identity while linking, implying that there is a danger of losing oneself. The double bond gave them the telepathy, but it was only when Pevara was startled into releasing her hold on her identity while linked that she was able to merge with Androl and use his Talent for gateways as if it were her own.

I thought that was fascinating, and I really wanted to see other characters take advantage of it.
