(There is seperate thread for the re-read of The Way of Kings in this same forum)
I'm excited, this series is planned to have 10 books, which means it will most likely be 15 in the end. Now that WoT is over and Sanderson is free to work on this series, it is a series I think WoT fans can use to partially feel the void in their hearts since AMoL is done.
The first book of the series is already out, "The Way of Kings." I've already grown attached to some of the characters already: Kaladin, who tries so hard to do the right thing, but has one tragedy after another. Shallan, the young girl who leaves home to help her family and becomes a young scholar. My favorite so far is Syl, I just love her.
There some parts that are reminiscent of Mistborn, like Kalidin is nicknamed Kal (Kelzer in Mistborn is nicknamed Kel). The magic system is original but has a few touches of similarities with Mistborn, but it's not the same at all.
The hierachy of the people seems totally original to me, and the world seems to be earth, but the scenery and vegetation aren't at all what you you would see in a fantasy epic.
Anyway for those like me who are heartbroken after reading the final page of AMoL, this may be a good series to start and wait 20 more years to finish!
Has anyone else read it? Thoughts? Does anyone like Syl as much as I do?
