Hi everyone!

I've been back on the boards (and in chat, of course) for a couple of weeks now (following my absence of, oh, 4-5 years?), just sort of testing the waters I guess, and now that I've been back for a while and am fairly sure I'm going to stick around for a while longer, I thought I should probably bite the bullet and actually post a thread here to say as much.

So, hi! For those who don't know me, I'm Alyccea. :) For those who do know me... :tackle :hug

I saw some questions in one of the stickies here, and although I've no doubt answered them before, I thought they could be a good conversation starter...

Who is your favorite character in The Wheel of Time and why? Egwene al'Vere. I just LOVE her chapters. She's such an inspiration, in terms of her attitude and intelligence and serenity despite all of the drama that happens around her. (She is basically the complete opposite of me!)

How did you find TarValon.Net? Wayyyy back when, I was looking for background information on Lanfear with the intent of writing a fanfic. I never wrote the fanfic (lucky world!) but I did find this place.

What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?) Last time I was here, I was finishing up my Honours degree in Molecular Biology, and then moving to Europe working in tourism and retail in Dublin. Since then, I've moved back to Australia and spent a few years working as a travel agent. I started a Masters in Professional Accounting a couple of years ago, and now I work in financial services while I finish my degree.
I still have no idea what I want to be when (if!) I grow up. :cheeseeni:

What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time? Well lately I've been obsessing over The Hobbit so I'm going to have to say Tolkien... but you know, ask me in a month or two and you'll probably get a different answer. :p

Welcome back, Alyccea :) I am glad you decided to come back. Egwene is my favourite character too and I do agree she is an inspiration :pleased-1: If you like Tolkien you must read The Silmarillion (if you haven't yet ;) )

Welcome back! We're really happy to have you around again. :D

Let me know if you need anything, though honestly it sounds like you could probably teach me a thing or two. :p

Did you like the last hobbit movie? Or did you find it underwhelming?

Thanks, Mayor Zandera!

Regarding BOTFA: I freaking LOVED it. It transported me to places I had thought I'd never see again. It brought back feelings I thought I'd forgotten. It changed my whole life and brought me back from the practically-dead. It was MAGIC. <3

(Also, beards. :waggle :look: ;) Beards are awesome.)

I personally loved the action in it. :look: Some people hated the ending, but I'm such a big action fan I absolutely loved it. Did you get to see the movie in good company too, bringing along some fun folk?

Well I saw it twice, once with my best friend and her 8-month-old baby (so admittedly half of the time watching the movie was spent keeping an eye on him, trying to make sure he didn't disturb anybody or crawl away ) and the second time with a friend who was in Brisbane to visit for a short while. A bit different from my crazy-excited-get-up-at-the-crack-of-dawn-to-go-see-the-very-first-session-on-boxing-day-dressed-up-like-an-elf-with-my-just-as-crazy-friends behaviour during LotR... but still good. :) And I thought the ending was golden.

Do you have the extended editions (for the first two, I mean) and/or have you seen the interviews and commentaries and stuff? They just make me love the movies even more (just as they did for LotR). I feel like PJ's movies would be AMAZING fun to work on.

Hello Alyccea, it is nice to meet you. I have so many favorite characters, it is hard to pick ONE. But, Moraine was my favorite. I followed a lot of Egwene's character but she was also surrounded by other favorites, such as Nynaeve, Avhienda, the Wise Ones, and Elaine.
