Update 3: We'll be upgrading our version of vBulletin tomorrow evening. That's around 9pm EDT Oct 21, 2013. There will be short downtime associated with this.

    ---------------

We'll be performing some site maintenance tomorrow evening. My window is 5pm - midnight (EDT). Very minimal downtime is expected (if at all).

We'll be installing SSL certificates and changing the site to use HTTPS, which will encrypt everyone's browser sessions. All modern browsers should be able to handle this without issue. We still recommend you update any bookmarks to the following https://www.tarvalon.net.

If you have any questions or concerns, or have issues after this maintenance, please contact us at support@tarvalon.net.

    Thanks.

Update: There's been some suspicious behaviour and slowness, so I'll be investigating that tonight. You may have some dropped connections or experience odd behaviour, so please bear with us. Thanks :)

Update 2: I've been testing with some settings. For now, I've reverted us to our old settings. It seems the vBulletin WYSIWYG editor doesn't play nicely with HTTPS.

OH. So, I totally noticed, but not that it was scheduled. :p

Also: terrible wifi at my school + site work = awful internet. :p

There was a minor glitch for about 30 seconds, so hopefully you didn't have too much trouble!

Would this be related to the maintenance? When I go to edit a post now all the formatting is screwy. All the spaces are gone and everything is run together like one long sentence. It appears the WYSIWIG editor doesn't seem to be available to me now either.

I guess we should be glad you didn't self destruct the site :D

Update: we're going to upgrade our version of vBulletin to 4.2.2, the latest 4.x version. We were going to do this anyways, but in order to resolve some of the related issues we need to be on the latest version.

Is the double-posting thing also related? My quick reply thingy keeps freezing up and saying it didn't post when it did.

It is. You'll have to clear your browser cache and then make sure you're using http://www.tarvalon.net (instead of https://). HTTPS and vBulletin's enhanced editor don't play well. That's what I'm trying to fix :/

Thanks for that workaround. I can edit again and not have everything look horrible. :)

And now my signature is all messed up, even though I haven't touched it. Related as well, I suppose?

HTML in signatures got disabled, yes. If you edit your signature and replace all of the < and > with [ and ], respectively, it'll work fine. :)

Strange. I never put html into my signatures. I always just used the editor, which puts in BB code. Or at least I thought that's what it did. Well either way, I've updated it. Thanks. :)
