Loraella has bestowed news upon you all for quite a long time now, and the time has finally come for her to focus on other things. Ella is also so gracious as to think of you all; she wants someone else to have a chance at this fun position.

Ella has been a wonderful help in Marketing and is a pleasure to work with! I will miss her, but wish her well as Green Heart and whatever else she chooses to pursue. :kiss

Position Overview
The Tower Voices are responsible for maintaining our Facebook and Twitter accounts, both for posting relevant site and fantasy-literature news, and ensuring that both social media outlets are used to help promote TarValon.Net. This position is also responsible for posting news content on the main site and for researching new social media outlets. This position involves a lot of public interaction with both our members and the Wheel of Time fan community at large. The Tower Voices report to the Director of Marketing. Please note that this is a shared position (to help post news at all hours of the day). Mhor will still be one of our current Tower Voices, and the new Tower Voice will work closely with her.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain our Facebook and Twitter feeds with relevant information (announcements from TarValon.Net; news from Tor and the WoT community; interact with fans as needed on Twitter especially)
- Research and implement new social media for TarValon.Net
- Work with the Graphics Development Team to have any necessary graphics for news (i.e. Twitter themes, images for blog articles on the main site, etc.)
- Write and post articles for the main Site News where appropriate; generally WoT news and major site news.
- Work with the External Marketing Coordinator and Director to help us recruit new members
- Check official email regularly to ensure that all site news posting requests are acknowledged

Requirements
- Must have been a member in good standing for at least 6 months
- Must be able to dedicate approximately 5 hours per week to this position
- Must be able to access the boards and Facebook/Twitter frequently. If you only check Site Announcements once a week, this position is not for you. If you're always online, perhaps you're a good fit. :P We need someone who will be able to post news promptly.
- Ideal candidate will be in a time zone other than the co-Voice (Mhor); since our membership is global, News may not always be posted at the most ideal time for all members, but we do strive to encompass our diversity as best we can. Also, having the Voices in different time zones ensures that post attempts will not clash with/override one another.
- Be interested in WoT news and the community at large -- whether that means you're also a member of Dragonmount, or you attend conferences, or you stalk Tor's Twitter account
- Excellent familiarity with social media platforms and strategies
- Good English grammar, spelling, and writing skills
- Able to work with a team and a co-Voice
- Ability/interest with social media analytics is a plus, but not required

If you are interested in this position, please email marketing@tarvalon.net and keeper@tarvalon.net no later than MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20. Please put APPLICATION - TOWER VOICE - YOUR TOWER NAME as the subject line. Please indicate how you meet the requirements above and why you are interested in the position.

Also, though I worked a lot of this into the announcement above, I thought it'd be worth sharing Loraella's thoughts on the position with y'all.

I believe a Tower Voice has to be dedicated, have enough time to
handle the responsibility and have a genuine interest in announcements
and stories that are important to both the site and the wider WoT
community.

Good timekeeping is essential, ability to work in a partnership is
also essential. I found that having access to the site on my phone a
great help. Especially during the busy periods. So having mobile
internet would be a nice thing to have. Also someone who is in a
different enough timezone that clashes in posting is kept to a
minimum.

Sage advice, I say!

Also, if you are a trained sushi chef or masseuse, then I will award you extra points for these services.

...Someone sent in an application that did not include her (I believe you are a she, based on the RL name that's on the email account) Tower name! So I don't know who you are. If you think that this is you, please send another email to marketing[at]tarvalon.net. Including your Tower name this time. Thanks! :bunny

Just a couple of days left to apply!

Calling all social media and/or news junkies. Also, if you've applied previously for this or any other Marketing position, I fully encourage you to apply again. \o/ We have so many talented folks on this site, and I'd love to welcome more to the team now that we have another opening.
