Official Announcement: Anni Memorial 5K Run / 1M Walk in honor of Rand Gaidin

Hello to all of the 2023 Anni-goers and members of TarValon.Net. We want to invite everyone to participate in a Memorial 5K run / 1 mile walk event at Anni or to participate at your home location if you can't make it to Anni. This official event will be in honor of Rand al'Ren (AKA Rand), and any donations we collect will go to the Boy Scouts of America in his name. Consider this the Official Announcement of the event while we work out some of the details.

@Soronhen Ciryaher has created a really nice logo, and thanks to @Siera al'Cere we have t-shirts available via the TarValon.Net Zazzle store. LINK TO BUY TSHIRT

This official event is also the official fundraiser for Anni this year. It will take place on Saturday morning, October 21st. We will need a small number of volunteers - medic/nurse, water distributor, photographer, etc. And we will have post event Tacos and Margaritas.

If you can support, participate, or donate, please use this LINK TO REGISTER to run/walk, to volunteer, to donate, and / or get a link to order shirts. The donation amount to register will be up to each individual. We hope that you will join us in honoring Rand.

Help or participate?

If participate, there is a virtual option on the form. Anyone not attending is welcome to join in at the same time, but in your own locale, for the run/walk component. Another way is to send in a donation for the cause! Information on sending in donations can be found here. Make sure you note that the donation is for the Anni Memorial 5k Run/1m Walk.

Absolutely. I really appreciate you @Nadezhda al'Lanahrin for asking this question!

1. You can help build up enthusiasm by helping spread the word both here in the Forums, on Discord, or on any of the Tar Valon.net Social Media feeds. Comment, Like, etc...

2. You can participate in the Fitness Guild "training for the Rand Run / Walk" thread - and share how you are getting ready.

3. You can find a partner or friend to run / walk with in honor of Rand Gaidin on 21 Oct.

4. You can join the run "Discord Watch party" and "virtually cheer on the Anni Runners and Walkers.

5. You can donate and / or encourage family and friends to donate (its goes to support the Boy Scouts of America which Rand Gaidin loved so much).

6. Let us know about your support with sigs, badges, and updates.

7. As @Erin al'Denael Sedai kindly suggests, reach out to @Dovienya el'Korim Sedai.

8. Rand Gaidin embodied the Val'Cueran value of Brotherhood / Sisterhood, so let's continue to be like Rand Gaidin. Share Brotherhood / Sisterhood in all your encounters within our Tar Valon.net community and in our wider communities.

Hi everyone,

I want to take a moment to reach out and let you know how sincerely touched I am by the support of everyone in this community. This is extremely bittersweet for me. I am enjoying the planning process for this event, but I've broken down more than once while doing so. I wish it were vastly different circumstances.

I've received my t-shirt in the mail, I'm working on a proposed route, and I may start reaching out to those who indicated they would volunteer soon. (We still need at least one person who will take picture, if there is interest.)

I would like to set up a little table for anyone to light a candle at the event if they want. If anyone has any good pictures of Rand, I would really appreciate you reaching out to me.

I'd also like to remind you that there is a virtual aspect to this event. You don't need to go to anni. You can walk or run on your own at home. Or just donate or volunteer! There are many options for getting involved if you want to.

I hadn't signed up yet and was planning to walk, but I went ahead and put down volunteer for photos too since you mentioned it. Only if no real photogs come through. I always take a ton of pictures just for myself anyway.

I signed up just to donate and volunteer. I think I put helping with water on the list, but I would be happy to bring my decent camera and take photos. wherever you need me. I won't say I know a ton about photography but I have dabbled now and then.
