Ashara that is a good point. I have gone back and re read many of my old favorites and discorved new complexity to the details.

Some of favorites include The Dresden Files read by James Marsters, the graphic audio version of the Stormlight Archive (first book is complete and the second has one more part they are releasing in feb) the graphic audio version of the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. Too many great ones to list but there can be total duds as well. A narrator might not be a good fit for every listener and that can ruin the story and take you out of the story constantly.

This year I have re read almost the entirety of works by Stephen King through audio book. Most were fantastic. A few though were a miss. I dont really care for it when King narrates his own books or shirt stories. Though I love when he does the forward and then talks about things at the end in the books that have been done by talentet narrators.

I also went through one of my all time favorites the Farseer books by Robbin Hobb. I wantes to do a reread before the second in her fools fate trillogy came out. Delightful experiance if you are a fan of those novels.

Haha now you got me going! I think when my kids are older I want to try my hand at learning to narrate audio books. Some narrators from smaller productions do it as a part time gig with thier own set ups at home. I have no idea if I would be good at it or if I even have a voice listeners can stand.

Hello! I'm really new, but I'm excited that you're back! More new friends is always good!

I read almost the entire series through audiobook or my husband reading because the beginning is very plot dense without seeming it so I just couldn't get through Eye of the World. My best friend took my advice and is flying through the audio books listening in her car, and catching every dang plot point. I'm actually in awe of her ability to meet someone and size them up off the bat.

The Old Kingdom trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) is narrated by Tim Curry. You get to hear him shriek like a little girl :D

Aloren!! I'm starting to wander out of Brown a bit and look who I see here. :)

I know Marsters isn't universally loved among Butcher fans but I really enjoyed his reading of Dresden. I read some of the series in audio and some in print, and I missed him a bit when I read in print, still kind of "heard" him. And yeah, audiobooks and podcasts are such a great way to make chores go by. Do you listen to any podcasts?

Kitan- Tim Curry!! I'm going to have to check those out!

Has anyone read The Alchemist? It's not my favorite book by Paulo Coelho (fave is Veronika Decides to Die, it's fascinating), but Jeremy Irons read the audio version so it's delicious to listen to.
