Some time ago, we ran a focus group to discuss possible new Merit badges. There were many ideas suggested, some of them good ones, though none that got unanimous approval from the participants. read through all the threads and made a note of all the suggestions, and then trimmed these down to identify those that are both plausible to implement and reward areas that are important to the community but not currently recognized. After that, it was a case of trying to decide exactly what level of contribution would be worth a silver, and if appropriate Gold merit badge. Part of this was that we want the merits to be achievable (otherwise there is not really much point adding new ones), but also not to be totally unbalanced compared to current merits in how easy they are to attain (as a side note, some current merits will be made slightly easier)
Gleemans
The first of these to be awarded was one of those that came closest to unanimous approval, a”Gleeman’s Merit” for running Mafia and Assasins games, which over the past few years have become a big part of the community. We looked into how many hours a game takes to run, and how variable this is for both Mafia and Assassins and eventually decided that we would set it at 4 games for a gold, and 2 for a silver, and that for Gold, it must include at least one Mafia game. We are not currently including the mini mafia, but should these be popular and frequent enough, may consider in future a way of including them.
For now, we do not have the actual badge graphic, but the people who will gain a Merit

Logo Design Merit
The second merit to be awarded is for those people who won the competitions to design an event logo in those years such a competition was run. This excludes the years it was done in house by the Department of Marketing and Graphics Development Team. This can be awarded multiple times and is a silver only merit

These are both based on the information I had available, so there may well be other completed Mafia/Assasins games I wasn't aware of, and there is at least one event logo that we don't have the information for who created it.
