.... poor? Check!
.... inactive? Kinda-check! (I've been napping cause I can, roll with it :P)
.... can I donate this fundraiser? Probably not. Will I still? Yes. A token amount? Probably. Old habits die hard, and I don't like to ask anyone to do anything I don't do myself. Besides, I've seen what we're able to do when we collectively throw spare change in the piggy bank, and I am confident that I can be part of making a difference (if, this round, it isn't a very big difference on my own).

At the end of the day, the fundraiser comes down to this:
Without exception, at one point someone in this community paid for your ability to participate in this community and use resources like this website. Our fundraisers are about asking people to help when they can in order for us to pay our collective bills. I give when I can because I know too many amazing members who can't, but who give to this community in countless other ways. I don't want them excluded because they can't pay a membership fee. We all lose out, then. I don't want the site monitized with ads, because I think that makes us lose out too. :P

So, if you have the ability and you appreciate that someone paid it forward for you, if you would like to make sure that our resources remain free and available and our site remain commercial-free, please pitch in.

That is my new and abrieviated pitch! :D
Wow. I am a lot less wordy when I'm not an Admin. :arch

Also, can I get a refund for Zasha? Or do I need a receipt?
:look:

Or the exactly right time.[/quote:pxdhjr6g]

He means that we put money in the kitty last month and therefore cannot afford to do it when we could get stuffies for peoples.

I have a dear friend who has never given money to the Tower, but has always given of herself and her time and that is amazing! I have other friends who don't have the time to take on a position or help out as much behind the scenes but are able to give a few dollars when we ask once a year.

Ummm I have given...but then again right now when I am living with 100 dollars to last me for a week with six mouths to feed and pay for gas...I think I could fall into that category.

What I can say is support of those who wish to be able to express themselves in a forum. I say let them...but again...I am all about free speech. Being a CE monitor for a long time...I can appreciate it.

I would love for those who GIVE of their TIME, be rewarded in "kind"...for those admins that spend countless hours keeping our boards healthy and active, the moderators, etc...those who "give" without financial recompense, be allowed to count that toward their ajah/company etc. While it could be okay to say "hey, give up your 3$ latte and give to the tower that 3$"...when one has worked 15 hours a week without pay on the site...can we not agree that they have donated a ton of "money" that they could have given? Just asking.

for me...I am a snail mail person. Living paycheck to paycheck but love the site and thank you for everything that everyone does. We are no where near our "goal" to keeping the site alive. 20$ is a lot of money to some people...but if everyone can give what they can...that would be awesome. For me...I will be sending in a check when payday arrives. Please know that I already do not have money to even go to the movies, but tv.net takes up that slack..so what I would spend on that...I will send.

Jeffy...I am your friend too...so raise it to 20$ even...I think I am worth the extra pay :P.

Honest truth here...if we do not donate what we can...we will either lose the site or have ads on it...nuff said. No one gets paid to run this site or make it what it is...the money donated goes directly to the payment expected to keep it rolling. So if you could get by without a latte for the month, a movie ticket for the month, a pack of cigarettes for the month...could you THINK of donating it to the site that you visit regularly? Every dollar counts :). :kiss

Till August 1st? Good, because they rejected my expense report for a pretty hefty sum so I'll have to wait until i get it in the NEXT pay cycle :desk

Six weeks actually did have a method to the madness. Some people get paid every two weeks, this would allow them to plan ahead and budget ahead, and people's pay dates are all over the place. Some people are paid on the 1st and fifteenth, so this allows three of these days, and still others are paid on the 1st of the month, and this allows for two of these. It gives our members some flexibility.

:) It is a great method.. allowed me to give more than just once off my last months income which I am one who gets all their monthly income on the 1st of the month (for last month weirdly enough).

I think the idea is to say "WOOO I DONATED WOOO!" and not the place to bring up issues with the method of it (though I agree there are places for that)

I donated just now. Couldn't find a place to note that it was for the fundraiser, except in the e-mail box on the last page. I hope that is sufficient.

Onis Sedai: It should be possible to write message when you pay thru PayPal... It's further down at the page than the "pay" button?

Generally, unless something is noted for otherwise (Euro summer, Anni, etc) we assume payments coming in are donations. So it's all good. And thank you all.
