I donate my blood regularly since 2011 :pleased-1: Here if you subscribe they start texting you when enough time has passed for you to give blood again and they let you know if they have special van set up close to location you gave them.

Yeah, we had that system in Finland too.

I'm going to try to donate on Monday - there will be the Red Cross blood donating van right across the street. Now to eat lots of stuff with iron...

I am insulin dependent Kel Gaidin and tablet controlled. As i built up some insulin resistance.
You could have a word with the staff at the National Blood Service, Syera. Website is: http://www.blood.co.uk, there's a 'contact us' button or you could phone them on: 0300 123 23 23.

I have my appointment for Platelet aPheresis at the Red Cross for tomorrow. :)
Brilliant! I used to donate platelets but work started to be difficult about taking time off every month to donate so I switched back to donating whole blood. I'm currently taking part in a research project to identify the optimum time between donations. Having said that, I've been placed in the control group so I'm just carrying on with donations every sixteen weeks (current standard time for female donors in the UK).

I have another appointment to try and give blood today; here's hoping my iron levels are enough better!

So apparently, if you drive in an enclosed air filtered bus through a half mile stretch from Inchon to Seoul, you are still at risk for malaria. So I can't donate again until November 1st :grumble

I sort of half donated the other day for the first time since moving up here. My blood clotted in the line >.>

I did find a place I might be able to start donating regularly again, though.

I *finally* found a blood drive that coincided with my (limited) time off ...... and finally donated. :)

A thought .... :look:
Would a red cross drive be possible at something like Anni or Fall Ball ..... in the same *vein* as DragonCon having had a blood drive in the past? :look:

With the amount of people partaking of booze and aspirin, that'd probably yield a negligible donor pool.

I do not think either necessarily preclude you from donating. :P
