It depends. If you manage your diabetes with insulin, then no, but if you're not insulin dependent, it's worth checking into.

About being anemic and donating blood: I don't have any scientific proof for this, but my own experience (and several of my friends have had the same) is that if you manage to get the hemoglobin up so that you get to donate regularly it'll improve. Granted, I'm not actually anemic, since my hemoglobin values are just slightly below the donating limit, so it's pretty easy to pump it up temporarily with iron supplement. I've done this twice, and both times I had to take extra iron just for the first two donations, then my hemoglobin started to rise and after ca year of donating regularly my values were even above the average. So if you're only slightly anemic and want to donate it might be possible that way.

Oooh- getting paid for not working it a total bonus! :P

Everyone- I am super excited to see donations already coming in, and such a great interest in donating. That said, please, nobody risk your own health or make yourself sick to do so! I am sure that the Red Cross, hospital, or whomever is actually taking your donation- will not let you risk it either- but just in case.

Everyone! I thought that it was worth noting that within this first week the membership has already donated five pints of blood- spanning three continents! Amazing!

Thank you to all our donors, supporters, and the assistance in spreading the word!

I donate my blood regularly since 2011 :pleased-1: Here if you subscribe they start texting you when enough time has passed for you to give blood again and they let you know if they have special van set up close to location you gave them.

Both Kitan and I donated last Thursday. And I have rare blood so they call and have me donate every 8 weeks.

I'm not allowed to donate my blood... :(
I kinda wish it was for reasons like "too evil, mean and corrupted" but sadly it's because of the meds that keep all those traits under control. :indifferent:

I'm pretty sure it is that you are too evil and mean then. Unless something has changed since you disappeared! Welcome Back!

Sigh. Got deferred when I went in; too anemic. Trying to get my iron up so I can donate again! :D
