I want to thank everyone for your patience as the events team (Naomi, Lillian, and Eleyan) hunted for the perfect location for 15th Anni.
Without further ado: 15th Anni will be held April 1-4 on the shores of South Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson Resort! :joy :joy
TICKET PRICE HERE.
What are the great things about this place? First, our plan is to rent out the entire hotel -- 26 rooms* -- which will give us 24-hour access to the amazing great room (complete with giant fireplace!). Across the street from the hotel is a general store, which has basic groceries, wine and beer, and other necessities, plus deli sandwiches. Down the street is a bar and grill on the lakefront where you can have lunch or dinner.** We are literally on the beach of Lake Tahoe.
*Fully occupied, the 26 rooms will accommodate 74 people. This is not a hard limit. The resort also has cabins we can rent.
**Please note, the ice cream parlor and the coffee and confectioner's listed on the resort's website will not be available to us since they don't open till the end of May.
Camp Richardson has its own cross-country ski course, downhill skiing is about 30 minutes away. The Mountain Sports Center on site offers sporting equipment (skiing! biking!) for rent. At the marina, there are kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats to rent. We're very close to horseback riding. There's a yacht tour on the lake for those so inclined (~$50/person, 1.5 hours). About 15 minutes away is State Line, CA/NV, which has casinos and more upscale dining.
We know that having the dates and location for this event are important for your planning. We are still figuring out the logistics of the event, whether ticket price includes lodging or will be separate, how rooms may be allocated, etc. These are urgent issues we are currently working on with full force. For planning purposes, we believe the cost of this event will be more in line with our traditional Anniversary celebrations, minus all food included (we are still looking at a catered special dinner). We are, however, about five minutes from grocery stores and budget places to eat including Starbucks, Subway, and Taco Bell (and a lot of great affordable places that aren't fast food).
I know Eleyan will have a lot more to say about this place, and I'll get even more excited once she does, which is hard to imagine since I'm already SO EXCITED. :joy
