I REALLY thought Birgitte was going to be one of the babes being born... But unless I missed something that wasnt it.

I thought so too! But why not? They haven't been born yet and when she disappeared she said she was going to be reborn soon, right?

At which point Elayne still has about three months to go. And I wouldn't think Birgitte would be reborn as the future Queen of Andor. It's not really her modus operandi, to be a noblewoman with massive armies at her command.

Bela's death.. I sobbed, the only place I cried so hard

this, why does one animal that you get attached to have to die..:(

Also Egwene's death really brought the tears, I just didn't want to let her go. Then with Lan..oh I cried even harder when I realized he was alive.

Siuan dying, and then when they described how Gareth Bryne died.

Egwene's death. She was my favourite character.

Rhuarc falling to Compulsion.

Bela.

At the epilogue where it really sunk in that this was the end.

Siuan dying, after I'd thought that she and Bryne had fulfilled the viewing when they saved each other during the Seanchan attack on the White Tower :(

Bela. I sobbed :(

Olver running and hiding, and then Noal/Jain coming back for him. The bits with children in the books always get to me badly (probably still hormones as my youngest is 10 months old). Like where Aviendha sees her descendants and one of them realises her baby has died in her arms... I still tear up thinking about that.

I did cry for Egwene, albeit delayed reaction.

I just put the book down and I'm still crying :p

Lots of little moments made me tear up, but the waterworks started with Bela dying, got super tearful with Noal/Olver, and just didn't stop.

Bela should not have died. Siuan and Gareth dying. I just cried. I had so hoped they would have a life beyond the last battle. I expected Egwene to die but it was still so sad. Moiraine's hand on Rand's face while telling him he "did well." Tam lighting the fire.

Oh, Birgitte being rebound to the Horn. I was horrified when she died, but was so happy for her when she came back that I cried then :embarassed:

I re-read the last third of the book last night and I found Thom's contemplation of the perfect word to sum up the story especially moving this second time around. It felt like exactly how *I* felt trying to find the perfect way to describe the book.

Gawyn's last words to his brother.

When Faile gave the Horn to Olver and took off knowing she might have to kill herself so the trollocs could not torture the info out of her.

When Lan took the sword, and all kinds of ugly crying with relief when he stood again.

When Noal came for Olver.

When Mat spoke to Fain and we know he wasn't dead.

When Gaul said that he had stood there and hadn't let anyone in.

So many moving moments.

Anybody say Bulen, yet?
Lan's first home-hitting death. Tying his hadori to his sword and fighting on. Beautiful. My face leaked.

Olver feeling unloved and everybody leaving him. Then Noal came back for him.

Birgitte coming back with her memories in tact.

Egwene losing Gawyn.

Lan's final lesson.

Rand struggling in the pit and outsmarting his opponent. "I know something you don't know..." style.

Rand listing all the heroes who have sacrificed and died or were still fighting for the Light. As one who has seen triumph and defeat of war, that hit pretty hard. That was when I had my personal growth through reading the series.

Mat's going to be daddy!

Rand left all his friends and family to think he's dead. That's messed up.

The entire chapter of The Last Battle had me in an emotional roller coaster. I can pick out individual moments, but honestly, it was pretty much every death, every moment of someone standing against the shadow, that impacted me.
It made me realize a few things about myself, and my life, and those around me- and about the series as a whole. Let people be heroes.

I loved that part. Rand's whole battle was moving and inspiring to me. Loved. It.

Pretty much every scene that involved a goodbye (right from the start of the book) of any kind had me choked up. :cheeseeni:

I cried the most when it was revealed that Lan was still alive after killing Demandred. I think that scene got the biggest reaction from me because of all the other super emotional things in the story just leading up to that. Plus, Lan is awesome.

"Egwene died." Two words that broke my heart. And Rand's subsequent anguish over it. I was also moved by Egwene's interaction with Rand post-mortum. And she was right. Why should she be denied a death she felt herself worthy of? A death she had embraced?

Faile's rescue. She was one of my faves, and I wanted her and Perrin together.

Perrin telling Rand that he'd always have his back.

The Black Tower/Borderlander Outings. Label is fanservice all you want, but this gay fan was certainly glad to see some recognition on that front.

Androl and Pevara's budding romance.

Annoura's burning out in order to bring Galad to Berelain, to make amends.

Bela, natch.

Siuan and Bryne. Mostly Siuan. After all she'd been through with Stilling, Healing at a much lower level.. so sad. So pointless.

Master Luhan and Perrin's bedside talk about Perrin's holding back.

Tam and Rand's duel.

Alliandre's presence on the battlefield throughout.

Tuon condemning Karede.

Rand's bird's eye view of all those deaths in succession, especially Hurin.

For me, this was a book of moments. There was a huge story to tell, but after 14 books and 14 years (for me) to be involved in it, well, I was moved quite a bit, as you can see.
