I know we have a thread for things you liked and didn't like, one for favorite quotes, things that surprised you, etc. but I want to know which scenes actually moved you. Which ones flooded you with emotion and what were you feeling?

For me, the brief paragraph where Olver raises the Horn to sound it just tore me apart. Maybe it's the mother in me coming out, but reading of a young boy cornered, trapped, with death reaching and howling for him just destroyed me. I sobbed and my heart raced like I was there with him. Good heavens, I'm tearing up just thinking about it again.

I invite you to share with us what truly engaged your emotions.

Mostly, the scenes that felt very epic.

The horn-sounding. The scene where Elayne charged the battlelines at the end (which I guessed she would do at some point ever since she told that story about some ancient queen who did the same). When Lan got reinforcements and they charged the shadow's forces. Egwene's final scene.

Egwene's death. It just came out of nowhere for me, and I cried for a few minutes after.

Rand's pyre. Even though I knew he wasn't dead (reading ahead a bit), it was still incredibly touching.

I've teared up occasionally in the past while reading, and had a few misty-eyed points throughout this book, like when Moiraine made her first entrance. But, when I realized Egwene was going to die... I locked myself in my bedroom and sobbed, then with thinking Lan was dead a few pages after that... well, yeah. I was a mess for about 30 pages worth of reading or so.

I teared up three times. The first when Gawyn was dying and he and Galad talked. The second not when Olver used the Horn but later when Noal came and Olver was so happy to someone was coming back to him for once. The third when Logain was talking to that woman and she said that she'd send her son to the Black Tower to be tested.

Bela's death.. I sobbed, the only place I cried so hard in the book with, that I had to leave the bedroom in worry I'd wake my husband.

Egwene's death didn't move me in sadness but I found the last line of writing on her death (before moving to Rands POV again) to be poetic. It was beautiful.

+1 to Azrael's post. In a book full of epics and tragedies that were rather overwhelming, that moment made my throat catch and I had to stop reading for a second.

Birgitte still being bound to the horn. Yay Birgitte!

This. And Egwene's death. Moiraine's triumphant return. Lan's laughter in chapter 5 or 6.

Also, for some reason early on I teared up a lot more than later. I think after all the battles I started to expect dramatic deaths and recoveries and wasn't as phased by them when they happened.

Yess!! Those two had me tearing up the most. I mean, Egwene's death was a shock that i cried 'after' the book was finished. Those two were just.. Mother instinct and Logain finally 'getting' what Glory truly means...

Egwene's death made me cry, big fat tears. Noal coming back to Olver. And, I never would have thought it, bug Perrin finding Faile. After so many whining books when he first lost her, this time when he was fighting for her. That made me happy.

Nothing made me cry and I was a little surprised. Maybe the action packed text wasn't the best to incite emotion in me.

Demandred and the Sharans surprised me.
Tam and Rand dueling made me happy.
So did the fact that Aviendha got some time alone with Rand.
Actually, I was more moved on the descriptions of the day before the Last Battle.
Poor Siuan. :(
Gawyn's made me a little sad, thinking what it'd do to Egwene.
Egwene's death scene was too awesome to make me cry.
Also, at some point, somebody was thinking it's been a little over two years since they left the Two Rivers. And I just felt angry because it's taken 22 years to get to the end in reader years. :p .
Lan's battle with Demandred.
Thom throwing a knife to 'Cadsuane's back made me go all "WFT!!! He can't be a darkfriend, can he?" until it was all explained a few lines later.
Also, Rhuarc! :(

The funeral pyre was a little bit of an anticlimax. Maybe it won't feel like that on another read.

The series is done. It's happy and it's sad.

Agreed on the Olver/Noal scene especially as I was thinking about how Noal had given Olver his hadori (Though obviously Olver didn't know that was what it was) I thought that was lovely!

Oh, and Siuan choosing to stay. It was just so her.

I REALLY thought Birgitte was going to be one of the babes being born... But unless I missed something that wasnt it.

I like the Olver/Noal thing also, the whole part of it.

And I was REALLY hoping that Egwene was going to be called back 'already' by the horn, but that didnt happen :(

Olver with the horn and Noal finding him, Perrin and Faile at the end when he finds her (Always been my favorite couple), Moiraine's reappearance at the meeting but specifically Rand and Nynaeve's reactions to it and Egwene's death. There were so many moments that made me tear up though!
