Hi all! I'm new and have no idea what I'm doing but I'm doing this now so...
I've been hanging on the Chat so I've met some of you.
If anyone has suggestions on where to find good avatars outside of the list in the Manual, I've been using that as an excuse not to make any posts ...
I figure I'll just answer the suggested prompts because I'm always wildly nervous and don't know what to do when meeting new people.
My favorite character in WoT is Androl, even though he only comes in at the end. I got mad at my husband because he said we've met everyone important, to which he responded he had forgotten he existed!!! But he is (currently) my favorite, followed quickly by the Two Rivers girls. <3 Unfortunately my list of favorites is very long and actually difficult to order. A short sampling includes: Androl, Egwene, Nynaeve, Loial, Lan, Mat, Tuon...
I'm not certain how I found TarValon.net (how do people usually shorten that btw?) but it probably involved the Library, mostly likely relating to the Old Tongue. I would have found it anyways, since I just started reading the Encyclopedia now that it's not a spoiler bomb, and this is mentioned in the forward! I was very excited (this was several months ago) but waited because I'm terrible at avoiding spoilers (read: oh I can just scan this page and find what I need without spoilers right WAIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT PERSON DOES THIS).
What I do is a complicated question. I graduated from a programming bootcamp about a year ago, but due to some ... interesting situations around my husband's job offer, I haven't taken a full time job. Right now I'm doing freelance audio transcription, and may have a major client within the next two weeks, at which this will no longer count as a small side gig, so that would be nice.
My favorite author outside of WoT is Francesca Lia Block. There's a weird mix of gritty realism, surrealism, and full blown fantasy, all wrapped up in easy to read phrases, and paragraphs and chapters that flow beautifully to create a picture.
