My plan is to go next Tuesday when I'm eligible again.
I really want to donate again, but I have two complications.
One, I refuse to donate to the Red Cross, and the other collection organization around has hours that are very difficult to get to around my work schedule.
Two, even if I have the time, what do I do with my toddler? I already have a full-time babysitter for while I'm at work, and I don't want to over-burden my family, who I regularly ask to help out. But there is zero chance he won't be running around and pulling on tubes, and I can't properly watch him with a needle in my arm.
Can you donate to a specific hospital? For instance I have only ever donated to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital directly. Not sure about the child care part though.
Hmm, I never thought of that. Maybe our hospital could make an appointment for blood donation. They might just refer me to the red cross, but it's worth a try.
Nice to see my post has spurred such reaction
Just booked an appointment for myself and for my husband. I haven't donated in years because of pregnancy or anemia so I'm hoping I'll be okay to donate!! I have O- so they always want me
Ended up being sick and unable to donate in July (had a fever and everything)
But! Was able to reschedule to donate last Friday!
Tried to donate yesterday but my hemoglobin was too low. I'm really bummed about it, actually, because first of all I wasn't expecting that and also it's been 2 years since I've donated.
Thanks for this thread as a reminder, though, and I hope people continue to donate. I know Canada has a real need right now for donations.
Double reds done at Dragon Con!
to Alenya, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, Juliya - do you have ways to get it up, through diet or supplements or whatnot? For your own sake as much as for any future donation attempts.
Got my third donation of the year in today, so now I'm done until 2019.
Way to go! That's great.
I do have supplements - I'm going to talk to my doctor and see what I should do.
wow that's great Tallan, Sorry to hear that Juliya, hope you can you can donate soon.
I just wanted to thank all of you that are donating. My son ended up with two transfusions this weekend, and if it weren't for donations he'd still be pretty sick. So thank you for donating!
Glad to hear he got what he needed
It is our pleasure even if it isn't our own pints.
Wanted to give a October update as to the Blood Drive. As of today we have had 16 donations! The top donating member groups again is the Brown Ajah at 4 . but the Non-Affiliated JM's are Equal 4
I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to donate. I would like to thank everyone else for encouragement or donating in other ways. If you have not recorded your donation please do so. if you don't have the link message me with your Tower email or a personal email and I'll send you the form.
If one donation can save 3 lives, we have saved 48 lives so far this year- and can do so much more!
Here is how it stacks up.
Affiliation totals of Affiliation group
Blue Ajah 3
Brown Ajah 4
Citizen/Resident Citizen 1
Green Ajah 1

Do we have a 2019 thread coming? I'm hoping I'll be able to donate this year.
Soooooo I found out a few weeks ago that my liver function is actually *perfect* (that's the word the nurse used) and so there's really no reason I can't start to donate blood again!
Yay that's great, Kyla!
