Your vision and will have directed this community for an entire decade. Not just the website, the forums, the public events or chatrooms, but numerous individuals, their lives and the people they touched were affected by choices you made. I only hope we can find someone of similar spirit, fortitude and creativity to step into the Stole and Staff, and take the Amyrlin Seat. Thank you, Mother. :)

I saw this on the 1st of April, but I decided to ignore and overlook it hoping that it would be revealed as an elaborate April's Fools. It's not the first time you've schemed (plotted :P) with others to make your pranks seem more believable, so in a way, Riley posting only made me more confident this was April's Fools and not for real. In some way I guess I knew that it wasn't a prank, but like Lyoness I needed to...believe it was, if only for a couple of days.

It's hard for me to put into words how much this community has meant to me over the years. I am new enough that I've never truly felt like part of the 'Old Guard', but at the same time I've always felt involved, always felt wanted, always felt listened to, cherished and appreciated. Thank you for that, Mother, and forgive me for saying that it's going to be really, really weird to be able to refer to you as Eleyan or even Melissa on these boards.

Unlike some (*snugs Addelyn silly*) I was already a legal adult when I joined TV.Net in December 2004. In many ways, I feel silly for saying that this place has helped me grow into myself - but it would feel even sillier to deny that fact, since I think it would be pretty obvious to those close friends I have made here over the years. In this community I have been allowed to serve as staff, Admin and even, for a very short while, as an Executive. I have worked under some incredible leadership talents and gotten the opportunity to hone my own. I have been mentored (officially and unofficially) by several amazing ladies, and in my turn been allowed to mentor several others every bit as astounding.

When push comes to shove, though, it's the friends I've made here that makes me truly grateful you made this place, and kept at it even when things have been stormy, dramatic and probably pretty much sucked. You're an amazing woman, and I am honored to call you my Sister, for another year my Mother, and my friend.

I leave for one weekend...

Uh, wow. Honestly, I'm shocked. Not in a bad way, per se. Just shocked. Mother, I've been a member here for only a few years (I think it's been a few...really don't remember when I joined...). I've never, as I remember, talked to you personally, really. If I have, it was briefly. I don't take offense at it, and don't be angry that I'm bringing it up. My point is only that I wish I'd have gotten more time to know you as Amyrlin. I'd like to have seen you previously. Although, perhaps at Fall Ball.

At the same time, I know this may very well be something you need. And I know that, as you become a member, and I, at some point, become a Sr. Member, in a way, it will give me more opportunities to meet the lady that has led this community since it's inception. And that's a pretty awesome thought.

This year, I'll be going off to college. My parents will, in all likelihood, be moving away from the house that we all live in now, where we've lived for the majority of my life (I just now realized it's been the majority). There are a lot of changes in my future. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here who is going through a drastic change in their life. And, of course, neither are you now. On the one hand, this will be one more change I have to adapt to. On the other hand, the Amyrlin will be going through something equally life-changing. In a way, that's encouraging. It reminds us of how human we all are, no matter what position we're at in our lives.

Eleyan Sedai, Amyrlin Seat, Mother, I wish you the very best in all of your endeavors, present and future, and I pray that you meet each challenge as you have met this one. Even though I've not known you personally, you will always hold a special place in my heart as the one who made this site, a big part of my life, a reality. Thank you.

Mother, I'm so thankful for all the work you've put into making this wonderful group what it is today. I've only been a member for 1.5 years, so I still very much feel like a newbie around here, but TV.net has already had a huge affect on my life.

I wish you the very best in whatever direction this change leads you, and hope that your future is filled with joyous surprises. <3

Again, thank you so much!

Okay so I suspect I have to admit this is real now. I was thinking about it a lot last night and well, you know what, you’ll always be Mother to us.

In the history of the Tower you will always be the first and nothing will ever change that. You’ll always be there, even if it isn’t as COO, you’ll always be a non-executive member of our board, you aren’t abandoning us. This is the end of your chapter, you raised us from nothing to the huge community that we are now, recognised not only worldwide but by official organisations and people that matter to our little universe.

It’s fair to say that you deserve a rest.

Whoever takes over will not be filling your shoes, they’ll be creating their own, forming a new chapter in our history. They’ll make mistakes, do things that the masses don’t like, but that’s the role you have played for so long, mediating arguments, settling disputes and having to make the decisions no one else really wants to. Good luck to them, we’ll stick with them too because that’s what we do.

As for me…well you will always be Mother to me (or Mummy as I insist on calling you if to be nothing other than awkward). Flying to the USA and getting dragged to the kitchen for wine, sitting on benches involved in conversations that you didn’t need to include me in, made you even more awesome in my world. The best bit? Wandering down the path at Anni 2009 and hearing “I see a Blue” and getting probably the biggest tacklehuggle I’ve had yet!

At Euro we will give you the greatest Welcome to one of our events we can, and the biggest send off too. For now….we plot :D

Apart from thanking you for what you have done to this site, I am also giving you a massive personal thank you for giving the young girl who joined this forum a second family when my RL made me crave an escape-route. Tar Valon was and always will be my haven away from my up-and-down RL, and for that no number of thanks will be enough. I hope that you can enjoy the site post-Amyrlin the way your children have done since its creation :hug3

Mother, I pretty much wrote what I thought already to you. However, to sum it up, Thank you for your service and while I wasn't expecting it, it doesn't come as a surprise. But I do feel a tad bit sorry for the poor sod who will be the new Amyrlin. :P We all love you, Mother. :D :hug

Mother,

I am fascinated by the number of folks thanking you for ten years of service, when you're not done yet.

I want to thank you, and sincerely, for eleven years of service as the Amyrlin Seat of TarValon.Net, given that you will not be handing over the Stole until the Eleventh Anniversary of this community that, in your drunken wisdom, founded... and in every state of sobriety have nurtured better than any community I've ever seen.

I, for one, intend to make your final year as Amyrlin the best one yet. That is my promise, that is my oath.

Thank you for all your hard work and just well all of it, the stuff we've seen and the stuff we have no idea happened, but ended up being uber important in later years. I would be very much a lonelier girl without your crazy ideas and even crazier ambitions. So thanks for being crazy, you crazy awesome lady you.

I want to thank you so much for this place and your hard work. Thank you, for all that you have done. For the idea of starting this place, for the work that has been put down in the logistics, all hours spent writing admin notes, all the time used to find the right people, all the laughter for all the parties that have been organized. Thank you for all the relationships that has emerged from here. All the marriages, all the children! You have given us ten years of your life. Thank you. I have never met you, and I don't know if I ever will, and you have still managed to give me something I am eternal grateful for: all of my friends that I wouldn't and couldn't be without. Thank you!

I have too many thoughts going on in my head, and I was another one waiting it out given the timing, but you are my friend and my sister and one of my Greens, none of those things are going to change. :hug Love you, Melissa! <3

I’ve been trying to come up with words that would adequately express what I want to say, that is to say; how I could explain the melting pot of emotions that well up when I try to respond to a post like this but words fail to define the indefinable. Suffice to say that the position leaving your hands is a loss to the tower. I never expected that it would be something that you’d put aside, or at least not for many years to come but I respect and understand why, or at least the reasons that are apparent to me.

It has been a fair and strong rule under your leadership. I’m sure when you were watching X-Files and goofing around, you’d never think in a million years that one day you would hold the love and respect of so many people, the world over. You’ve taken a group of fans and you’ve created, not just a community; but a family. Through the work you’ve done you’ve created a place that has made the world a better place to live in for a lot of people. You’ve forged bonds, facilitated great loves and triumphs and you have united people that otherwise never would have met and I don’t doubt you’ve saved lives through your work. Most people if asked if they could ever impact the world in such a way, they would say that it’s impossible but you’ve done the impossible and that makes you mighty.

You will forever be known to me as, not just as the founder of Tarvalon.net but as a fair leader and a friend. I know it’s not for another year til you step down and I know that it is not goodbye but it does feel like the end of an era. It is not THE end, for there are no ends in the wheel of time but it is A end. And I hope in my heart of hearts, that it’s also a beginning of another era. Whoever your successor is, they will have big shoes to fill and should they be half the Amrylin Seat that you are, we’ll be in good hands.

Tai’Shar TarValon.

Thankyou again Mother, and may the light always shine upon you and within you.

You brought me in before I knew your position and what you meant to the site. You have worked so hard and gave up a lot. I am thankful and even more grateful and wish that your transition continues to make you happy (and a little less stressed)
