Ok, so here I am! First one sharing the experience in this fresh new forum (yikes! So many blank pages to fill!!!)

I have introduced myself here (in case you missed that!) and now I am here for sharing my thoughts, feelings, assumpions and so on with you!

First things first: I am not a native English speaker, so my biggest problem is not understandind what's going on, but to catch all those litte tiny things hat RJ leaves in side notes. I am rushing through EotW at the moment (well, for me rushing, bc I have a full work day and can only read for one or two hours in the evenings) and my current chapter is 52

Tbh, I am really enjoying this only because of the podcast I found re WoT - it is the Wheel Weaves and a first time reader podcast with no spoilers. Also I discovered spliki, the spoilerfree wiki for WoT (but for the first book it is not so important, I think, because there are lots of information, but fresh in my head)

I was very surprised about
Nynaeve and Lan, did not see that coming and am very curoius about Lan's background, it sounds thrilling (Lord of the seven towers and so on...

And I LOVE Loial, do not know why, I think it may be the twitching ears???

So I am near the end of book 1 and think the story
somewhere in the south in book 2 bc of the title "The great hunt" and I have heart of that competition in Illian. Maybe we will meet Thom again there, would love that! But do not know how our party will get there, bc right now I think they may be going to Tar Valon?

Spoilers Book 1 only
I think a lot of people were surprised by
Nynaeve and Lan
, but there are hints that it is developing throughout the book

For your second thought, I think that seems reasonable,
Moiraine mentions the horn should be taken to Illian when they find it, and Illian has proclaimed the Great Hunt, so theoretically lots of people are looking for it and the Illianers are hoping someone will find it

It's a good surprise, I kind of just figured it would take a lot longer myself rather than being in book 1 lol.
 
So, well, finished book 1 yesterday in the evening. Am excited to have 14 more of these books afront of me!!!

And for the records - a few assumptions for the upcoming books:
Edit: Attention. Loooong posting....

So it is not explicit said, but I think Rand is the Dragon Reborn. Will be intresting to see his relationship to Egwene re the Foreseeing (?) of Min. Also I think there will be further connection/relationship to Elaida and/or Min???

I have no idea where the story will take Mat, but Perrin is really intresting. He is a wolf brother and we still do not know much about this. I can imagine that he will get in trouble once his wolfs come to any villages or towns. Also I think he will found a pack of himself, although the one from Elias is guiding him yet.

Nynaeve and Lan are an intresting relationship, because this one looks also as one with no future (like Rand and Egwene), but I cannot imagine RJ was only writing about failing love stories...? So maybe here is hope.

Egwene is going to Tar Valon to become an Aes Sedai (this way I do not see for sure for Nynaeve!), it would be intresting to know the color of her ajah! (Also, at this point I have no idea of the meaning of the colors, I only know about red! And I do not see Egwene tracking false dragons to bound them, I see her more in a way of a seeker of wisdom or a healer... )

I am very excited and hope for more stuff about Thom Merrilin to come - there is so much background we know about him that it is for sure that he is dead and never die.... (sorry for that!).

Also I am curious about what will happen to Padan Fain (which is right now in prision in Fal Dara) and of course I am looking forward to read more about my favorite character LOIAL! Is there a Loial fan-club here? I am applying for presidency!!!) This Ogier is so intresting, humbling and I love twitiching ears!!

So for the next book, I expect we will find our party in Illian, bc we found the Great Horn at the Eye of the World. First, I thought all of our party would go there, but I read the first chapter of TgH already and Rand seems to leave his friends. But I see Moraine in Illain, for sure.

Re Moraine, I love the Aes Sedai. Such powerful woman, I am super curious to learn more about them!!!

And I did not catch up with my "supervised reading" aka the Podcast The Wheel Weaves. So it may happen that I did not catch some important tidbits from the last 12 chapters, but I hope to listen to those asap.

It's kind of funny, because it's over 30 years since I first read it, and I don't remember having any idea what might come next, just that I absolutely had to find out

I find it very hard to react to your spoilers cause it feels almost impossible to distinguish events based on 'what book they occurred in'. So just saying 'interesting th eories' 😜 just picked up book 1 again. New prime season got me excited to match it up to events in the books

Well, this is kinda bit of expectations (and my own experiences with a podcast related to another fantasy story), I really want to find out what will happen next (and dipped my toes into TGH already), but I also thought about what I would expect or assume. It is really nice to scribble that down and look back a few books later only to see how dumb and silly I was.... a little bit of self shaming (and self humor), I suppose

I really love the Moraine POV at the beginning of book 2!!!


I think that Moraine knows that Rand wants to leave Fal Dara, and that Egwene is helping him to hide, and I am really interested in what she is plotting with Siuan. It looks like there is a deep connection between the 2 of them, but they try to hide it very hard (for what reason?)

Oh it's sublime, Robert Jordan does a really great job only giving us just enough Moiraine to keep things interesting, and preserve the mystique.

did you see the show on Prime, season 1 and 2? Just asking because I want to reply but don't want to spoiler anyting 😅

I watched season 1, but cannot rember anything and will not watch further, bc I fear spoilers, too... so please no TV spoilers.

I think I will come back once I am done with the complete books (maybe in 2027 or sth like that)

No worries! That's why I asked. It's best if everyone has the space to enjoy this adventure the way they see fit ✨

Anyway, I see you've met Siuan Sanche. How do you feel about her? Seems like a force to be reckoned with 😅

I did not see the invasion of Trollocs and Myrddraal in Fal Dara! Absolutely not, I thought, Rand would leave and that's it. Now the situation has completely changed - Mat, Perrin, Rand and Loial go to hunt the Horn and Dagger, the rest of the party heads to Tar Valon.

Rand met the Amyrlin - that was a huge goosepumps moment! And she knows what he is and let him go to fulfill the prophecies...

And is there another prophecy in the trolloc script in the dungons? Who was the one betraying Fal Dara, letting the Trollocs in and who forbade Rand to leave? And what the heck is the place Rand will meet again with the Dark One (written on the wall - cannot remeber it properly, so I think you know which place I mean....

Without any spoilers, the ability for Trollocs to show up where you least expect them is . . . troubling.

It's nice to see someone enjoying the books for the first time and having a lovely time! I wish I could re-read them again for the first time, it was such a magical experience. :)
