Hello, nice to meet you all. I lurked on this forum back in 2007 or so, when I was too young to register. I just remember thinking it was amazing that so many people loved the wheel of time as much as I did, and wanted to be part of it like this.
I was looking up the lyrics to "The Wind that Shakes the Willow" yesterday and it directed me to the TarValon.Net Library, and I was like NO WAY this site is still here? And so I registered immediately.
I started reading WoT back in...2005, I think? I was in 7th grade and bored of YA books. I was in the Borders (RIP) in my hometown of Colorado Springs and some amazing human recommended the series to me. I have no idea who they were, but they changed my life, really and truly.
I've been watching WoT on Prime, and I am really enjoying it. I think of it as fanfiction, and then I don't worry about the accuracy or changes as much. I can't quite explain in words the euphoria I felt on seeing Emond's Field on screen...
My favorite character changes each time I read the books. Last reread it was Egwene. Mad respect for everything she manages within the constraints of her various...situations.
I've probably read the entire series three times through since it was completed. Before that, I had read through to KoD probably at least as many times. I'm listening to the audiobooks now and I'm really enjoying reading the books in a whole different way after so much time.
The reason I was looking up lyrics in the first place is because I decided to compose some melodies for different WoT songs. I play the harp (still a beginner, really), so I'm planning to do both voice and harp accompaniment. Let me know if you want to hear what I come up with!
Thanks for having me; I look forward to meeting you all.
