Well that's more of a Star wars intro than WoT, but I'm a big nerd on a whole lot of fantasy stuff. I've always loved it, and when a few years ago WoT come out on Prime and my friend was all excited about it, I watched the first season. I loved the strong female leads, the rich world builds, the story and the potential. Excited about the series I asked my friend for the books that she'd read as a teen. I devoured them, and read through the whol series in a little over half a year. It's been a while and I've been wrapped up in some LotR and Harry Potter pubquizing in the meantime, but I think the time has come again to engulf myself in Randland.

Leading up to the 3rd season series release I was looking up some stuff and came across TarValon.net and was excited to join! Unfortunately the site was overgoing some reform but I've been talking a bit on the Discord server since. Can't wait to nerd here, and possibly read the series again along with some other people, discuss stuff, go over funny details, and of course, meet some other fans along the way :)

I'll update my avatar soon into something a bit more appropriate for this setting, but in the meantime this gives of a nice impression of me! Hope to meet you all!

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome! Reading the series so quickly is very impressive. Who are your favourite characters? And which of the books would you say was your favourite?

I am a new potato here so it was nice to see other new people as well.

Well I'm finding it very hard to point out favourite books. Because I read it all as one big massive blur, it's hard to chop it up into pieces. I'm very impressed with Perrin, he's such a calm force of nature type of guy, really love how he is sort of a changing constant. I love Moiraine and her portrayal in the series because of her selflessness. I always found Cadsuane a bit of a pain, I mean, I know Rhand needs some sorting out but it's just too stern for me. That boy is damaged, he could do with a hug you know! I'm also a great fan of Loial, for a lot of the same reasons as being a fan of Perrin. I love Verrin to, she feels a little bit to me like an old lady Dumbledore, with a lot of brain but also a lot of heart. Elyas is also a character that I really appreciate, because he just thinks differently, more wild but not savage, it's a very interesting perspective! (I can go on and on but these are the first that pop to mind and I'm just going with that for now :-))

One of the reasons why I want to reread the series soon is because I want to give it a bit more pause and let the books sink in as parts of the whole, instead of making it one big blur. And get more of a feel for the characters. I got through the story so fast and it was a fantastic ride but it also means I just darted past some stuff. So I hope to find some more depth in my next run!

Welcome!

Welcome! Glad you're here with us!

Hello and welcome! Like you, I read the books all in one great blur and think I need to do a reread to better distinguish events and characters in my head. You're not alone!

This exactly! I've been reading/rereading/listening/relistening to this series since the mid 1990s, so the entire thing just melds into one big story for me now. I do remember reading one of the books for the first time, after waiting years for it to come out, only to find that one of my favorite main characters didn't make an appearance until (I think) the last chapter. I was NOT a fan. :lol I envy those of you who were able to binge the entire series rather than waiting years between new books!

Also, welcome!

The books are still a blur in my head, but I've managed to break them into chunks in my head, sort of? I am most likely lying to myself out of optimism, lol. After book two, it's all mashed together. Anyway, welcome to the site and I fully recommend rereads. I still find stuff I missed and I've been at this series since '97, so replay value is amazing.

I loved the Star Wars reference. We have a lot of Star Wars fans here.

Anyway, welcome to the site, I look forward to getting to know you!

@Amreya Glamdringin I'm so sorry, it just occurred to me I used the wrong welcoming gif.

Ewan Mcgregor Hello GIF by Disney+

Really should have made the connection immediately with the title and your stated fandom ^_^

I'm here for bacon, I was told there'd be bacon! Nice to meet you of course, but I find the lack of bacon disturbing.

Welcome, Amreya! We're glad to have you here! I'm also a fan of Star Wars (both New Canon and Legends), Star Trek (though I need to catch up on Picard, Lower Decks, the last couple of seasons of Discovery, and Strange New Worlds), and Doctor Who (both Classic and Nu Who). Hopefully you'll feel welcome and right at home.

Nerding out in a safe space is the best!! I'm also a big LoTR fan and was wondering if I still have Harry Potter books lying around somewhere....Welcome!!!
