As the title indicates, there are some changes coming to the Discussion Halls. At the Admin Meeting this past weekend, it was decided that a bit of a reorganization was in order to reflect usage patterns we've been seeing. So:
1. Home & Garden and Health & Fitness will be merging. These fora don't have high levels of activity but do have some topical overlap. We are hoping that this consolidation will bring a bit of synergistic activity to the new forum.
2. Entertainment & Technology will be divided into three forums. At present, the only Discussion Hall that exceeds Entertainment & Technology for activity is CE (and not by much), but there's a bit of topical friction, and we've gotten comments that at times it seems like one set of discussions just gets buried in the others. To remedy that, Entertainment will become its own forum, dedicated to movies, music, TV shows, etc. Gaming will get its own forum as well and will include both electronic and other games, everything from CAH to WoW. The third forum will be dedicated to general tech support and discussion, but we want to emphasize that all tech questions concerning this site should continue to be placed in Ask the White Tower or directed to support@tarvalon.net.
So why am I telling you all this now instead of waiting on the release of the Admin Meeting Notes as usual? Because these changes are going live with the new boards in a little over a week, and we decided that this information should be released a bit in advance of the switch to give people a bit of lead time in the hopes of avoiding confusion.
We hope that these changes will better compliment the way the Discussion Halls are actually being used. We will be evaluating the results of these changes when we again meet in the spring.
