he main reason we keep quitting the books is that the men and women just hate each other so much lolll

I feel this in the depths of my soul. They are all so petty and immature in the beginning. And they do grow, but I don't think they ever really lose that sense of self-righteousness.

Languages wise.. passion more than anything. We're pretty good at picking up languages and accents. Spanish bc it's useful, French was our quarantine hobby {to be able to pronounce the Les Mis songs} and Italian.. è bello. and toki pona is soo fun and really does change the way you think and make you look at the world differently
I did also fall for somebody who's bilingual in spanish 😊 but that was after learning 😉 serendipity. that and we were able to spend the summer in Italy as an au pair thanks to being fluent enough in Italian. so it's been a good part of our life ✨
And now we're considering learning ASL to be an interpreter

And now I'm jealous. I've been sporadically trying to learn Spanish and ASL but sticking with it is hard for my ADHD brain. Also jealous that you got to spend a summer in Italy. It's on my list of places to visit if I can save up the money for it.

Welcome! Glad that y'all are here. And words do have this sort of gravity, right? One of the reasons I love lyrical music. I do love instrumental as well. Classical as well as Soundtracks can be very powerful, but I feel like the words add an extra oomph to the music and I'm better able to express my emotions and thoughts through some lyrical music. Anyway, welcome welcome!

Heyy! Welcome welcome! I am so glad that you found us, even if you missed the official SOA month I hope that its contents were still help to you and yours. We are another system of nigh-40 members at present; though not even half are currently Active. Still seeking a concrete diagnosis; it's been a year and a half, but you know how Psych likes to run things; but our therapist concurs more on the side of OSDD than strict DID.
Please feel free to reach out at any point if you'd like a quiet ear; I know even long - running and mostly - stabilized Systems can have upsets, and my talks with friends here on TVN have helped immensely.

As music has been mentioned in the thread, we'd love to know your favorite artists, or instruments, or if you've any background in music as you do in languages?
It can be such a grounding helpful thing, and we're always looking to expand our libraries!

Welcome Tobias! Would love to hear about what it was like being on here way way back. Hope you find your time here enjoyable!
I barely glanced over the site, but I remember one of the few pages I saw was the story of how the first two members kind of announced themselves aes sedai in a tipsy mood and founded the site.. idk where that was/is now haha
I also was teeny so ig i wouldn't have been allowed to go very far into the site 😂

Italy. It's on my list of places to visit if I can save up the money for it
It was lovely!! try not to come in the summer since it is so crowded starting once school gets off in June. I visited Rome, Florence, Padova, Vicenza, Jesolo [lil beach resort place], and Venice, also Pisa and another lil town for a cathedral, maybe Siena? I think we liked Florence best bc a lot of more medieval or early Renaissance cathedrals rather than the neoclassical. But I mean everywhere was pretty ✨
Let's see, if you stay with a family they may judge you severely for eating pasta at night, or god forbid drinking milk w your supper, or fruit at night, or cheese with jelly {shh it's a good sandwich} 😂

howdy from Austin!

toki pona, how interesting. i had to look that up but i like languages so that sounds neat
omg another austin resident ✨✨
i love living here too much istg, im in a bad mood and i go out and there's somebody on a construction site with a cowboy hat on and im just like.. ah. all is right with the world.
toki pona is soo neat, and learning it you get the whole process from beginner to fluency in miniature. plus there's a rly nice and active community online. and it does change the way you think.... if we're going into an analysis spiral and stick with trying to translate into toki pona, it makes things a lot more concrete and grounded

words add an extra oomph to the music
right?? especially if the words are the Old Tongue lyrics in the WoT soundtrack. *puts aviendha's theme on again*

favorite artists, or instruments, or if you've any background in music as you do in languages?
we play the harp! also recorder and used to play piano
favourite artists... good night so many. the Oh Hellos [folky kind of music with gorgeous intricate lyrics and just Vibes] and Gregory Alan Isakov [if hozier wrote country music], each of their songs means something to me. also Hozier himself haha and then.. Aurora.. They Might be Giants are fun... pomme for french
Shostakovich classical music, and a b u n c h of videogame soundtracks

It's great seeing the skill
yess to me climbing is the most beautiful movement :' it's like dance except there is a pragmatic reason behind every move
i mostly can't watch too many good climbers bc i start getting down about my own skills 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ yes indeed, i who have been climbing for two years while juggling a complete personal-life disaster, should be able to climb as well as a professional athlete

I see you're already making yourself comfortable around the place
yes 🥰 any place i can use honorifics is home sweet home 😂
