Welp. . . I think I found my next date. Right at the next Red Cross Center!

A big :grouphug to all those who gave, plan on giving, or who are simply supporting!

You found a date at the Red Cross Center? XD
That's kind of interesting.

*IF* people are willing, please put pictures behind spoilers, in case we have people who really don't like the sight of needles browsing the thread. (Although they generally put a little square of gauze over the spot where the needle goes into your arm so you don't see it, but regardless...)

I was wondering, would it seem too creepy to ask people to take a picture as they donate and post it here??

I know I'm ever ready with a camera but not
all of us are

I don't generally have a camera or I would when I donate next week.

Hilwa,

I completely agree! Hiding it behind a spoiler with a “this is my donation pic” kind of warning. Also, you might check with the staff and see if they’ll take a photo of you thats less close-up on the action? That sorta thing might feel less gruesome event to members who get squeamish about needles.

Raeviendha, I’ve been turned away for that once myself. Thanks for giving it a shot! Ya’ll are the greatest!

Plus, I cam across this this morning- it all varies locally and by country, but there is some good informations.

Since I can't donate due tick borne infections, nor can I volunteer at this time, what I can do is share this information and ask others that I know to please donate and/or volunteer. :)

Will this be expanded for the victims of the explosion in Texas? Or, also, perhaps, those in other countries who have suffered from a bomb, accidental or otherwise?

I was just posting in Community Outreach about that very thing a few minutes ago, Neisa - the explosion in Texas last night? My heart just goes out to that entire community :( I think that it's definitely another great reason to check into your local blood banks both today and also in coming weeks once the initial "how can i help" wave goes through...also if anyone has links to groups taking specific donations (monetary or of goods) for those who are interested, please let us know. It seems that in Texas, a 4 block radius has been destroyed including homes and an apartment complex :( - I found links for blood drives but have to leave for work so won't be able to look for more until late this evening.

Thank you everyone :grouphug

I am so grateful for our caring and thoughtful community. :grouphug In times of tragedy it is wonderful to be able to come here and see a group of such great individuals coming together.

I have family near West, Texas. They are currently working on organizing A- blood drives, as that is what they need most, apparently. They also are in dire need of donations of supplies for those who are now homeless due to the fires, though that can really only be given by those nearby at this time. Things like blankets, toilet paper, water, canned goods...

You can find more information here.

I gave blood this morning. I agree that it would be good to have this expanded to Texas.
:(

Outreach is currently trying to get as much information for this as possible. :) Its just been really busy for us IRL to pull it together as fast. >.>
