No aspersions or anything, just adding on to Azi's paragraph and bringing my butthurt out into public. God knows I've ranted enough about how events stuff take up all of Rachel's time, meaning she can't pay attention to me :rolleyes. I think that bringing up concerns and asking questions about events early in the planning process is really helpful. It spares the events team the stress of changing things in a short amount of time, which I'm sure they appreciate.
Maybe my phrasing wasn't as clever as I first thought it was.

ETA: I'm quite shocked to learn that Doquel and Rand actually check the site. Clearly we need to have more events near places where absent tower members live.

So yeah, LA it is folks and I encourage people to stay longer- espeically if you are coming from farther out. There is literally a billion things to do around here and after leaving Michigan (and it was snowing again when I left) getting home and wearing a light flowy skirt out today was quite nice. It’ll be colder up in the Big Bear region (mountains ’n such) but totally worth it.

Imzadi- you mentioned the distance from LAX and asked about transport. I don’t know that the tower will be providing transport, but there should be lots of carpool options available! Also- there are other airports in the area, Ontario being the closest.

And to address the concerns from earlier in the thread... We’ve talked to these folks twice, and c’mon guys... don’t you know me at all!? No drinking, smoking, cursing, or cleavage might kill me! :P We’ll be cool to do our thing (which involves my drinking, smoking, cursing, and probably my cleavage...) So no worries.

Thanks Tree. I think it's easier and cheaper for me to fly in to LAX Like 15-17 hours against 18-20 hours.

As I've stated earlier I don't care if I have to tolerate two weeks before with my mother.. I'm going to get to this anni even if I have to ask my mom to help with the air fare and drag my husband with me!

I'm visually picturing the initial panic of "no alcohol at anni" reaction and I was highly amused. Like Admins would ever let THAT happen!

You have no idea how many sites I passed up because of that alone for this past Anni.

That was exactly my reaction, too. I was like "oh, no booze? Oh well, those cabins looked nice... NEEEXXXXT."

If it makes anyone feel any more confident, we had similar concerns with some potential sites in Michigan, and we were under a lot more pressure time-wise with this past Anni. And as I think anyone who went can attest, the event and the site were amazing. Believe me, the events team can definitely pull this off

LA sounds amazing. I'm hoping next year will coincide with Spring Break so I can go. Work that only lets you take 1 personal day off at a time (because I'm a teacher and already have summer for vacationing, right?) makes big trips very difficult, but if it happens to fall on my SB week I'll be there and ready to party in warm weather. You don't know how much midwesterners dream of warmth this time of year.

On that note, any idea when the dates will be announced? The big conference in my field has been the same weekend as Anni for the pas three years; if it isn't this time then I'll be there for sure. *fingers crossed*
