Re: Miscellaneous

Sorry if this has already been asked. I looked around and didn't see it.

In my PMs, the sent box isn't showing anything I've sent since the transition. All my sent items from the old boards transferred over, but I can't find anything I've sent since.

In looking up this issue, it seems like IE8 is causing various things to display awkwardly. The users who have reported issues of this nature have found their issues resolved after downloading and installing IE9.

Could you possibly have turned off that feature, Kassina? Below the PM body, under the "Additional Options" section there is a checkbox that needs to be clicked in order for you to keep a copy. If it is not checked, you won't retain the sent message.

Re: Miscellaneous

The following errors occurred with your submission

  • The text that you have entered is too long (9485 characters). Please shorten it to 5000 characters long.

This happened when trying to send a PM. Needless to say that a limit of characters in PMs is really wrong and should be adjusted to no limit as it was on the old boards.

Re: Miscellaneous

I will not set it to unlimited because that is ridiculously incautious of our server space. However, I have increased the limit to be the same as regular posts.

As Windows XP cannot run IE9, other alternatives include Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome.

Re: Miscellaneous

Can we have the current date and time (for our selected timezone) appear at the top of the forum? We had this on the old forums, and I really liked it. (Let me know whether I had recently refreshed or not, and when someone last posted in a thread compared to the current server time)

Re: Miscellaneous

That would require either a modification or hack of vBulletin or a theme change; neither is something we can do immediately. But we will definitely take your request under consideration.

Re: Miscellaneous

Better to email or post problems?

I seem to be logging out if I'm idle for more than 10 or so minutes. No browser changes, etc - just...not active on the forums. I come back to the boards, bam - gotta log in again.

Re: Miscellaneous

Yelenia: It seems to happen to everybody, and the only solution I've been told of is to hit the "remember me" box before I log in.

Re: Miscellaneous

Honest question - did you check the "remember me" button? And, separately, are you logging into the archive site? Try deleting cookies, also.

Re: Miscellaneous

I will say this happens to me too. If I log in, WITHOUT checking the "remember me" button, I have to log in if I'm idle too long. And no, I'm not deleting any kind of cookies. I'm just idle.
