When I select Forum Actions -> Mark forums read the forums still have lil green checkmarks (which I've taken to mean new posts.)

Quasi related, orange post thingies remain orange after going into said thread and after doing the mark forums read.

The green check is to subscribe to the thread, and a thread turns 'hot' or to a different colour when it exceeds a certain post count.

So, how do you tell if a thread has new posts or not? I've seen the forum icon turn from gray to blue and back to gray, but not a similar indicator for threads.

Yeah not quite sure what all the labels mean. I think the orange post-it means it's a Sticky, and the green checkmark means you've posted in that thread. Hovering over the icons will give you a description.

Green means you've posted in the thread, if I'm remembering right.

Subscriptions are separate from posting in a thread, though there's a setting (and it's on by default, for me anyways) that will automatically subscribe you to threads when you post in them.

And yes Arie, you are correct, the checkmark means "Subscribed" but you can subscribe without posting using the Thread Tools

The green check mark in the middle is to subscribe, yes. You can tell if there is a new reply by the envelope being "open" on the icon when you look at it. A green arrow on the envelope icon means that you posted in that thread.

There's a legend at the bottom if you scroll ALLLLLL the way down.

Also, have you gotten to me yet? I'm not sure if I'm not set up yet, or just not doing something correctly to find moderation tools.
