o_O huh.... That is a completely different way of thinking about it, but makes sense, as their lives were very 'normal' before that.

I guess maybe you aren't born with it.... maybe it is Maybelline.... :cheeseeni:

Finished EoTW!

There was so much I had missed before...!

I also understand more about why the Eye isn't discussed more later on in the books. I assume it was made after the Dragon....DragonMount-ed, and the Eye is essentially 'destroyed' by Two Rivers Co at the end of the book.

I will have to check out if there is more info is described in the encyclopedia.

There is the question of what was the eye made for - was it the reason it was used, or something else. Also, what did Ishamael want with it? Had he intended to use it, or was it a complex plot to send Rand there and if so why?
If people could only find it if they had the need, could Ishamael? Did Belal and Balthamel find it, or is it that this is where they were spun out, and if so, would Ishamael also be spun out there?

I don't have the encyclopedia, so if you find more clarification please do share! I was always wondering about the Eye as well

Just something I noted from the Companion that a week is ten days.
“ It recorded each year as of the New Era (NE) and was still in use at the time of the Last Battle. The calendar set 10 days to the week, 28 days to the month and 13 months to the year.“
This does contradict what Moiraine told Egwene earlier
“You felt nothing special at the time, but a week or ten days later you had your first reaction to touching the True Source”
I thought at the time there was something odd about that phrase

Moiraine may just be specifying that a week is 10 days? Meta reason so that we as readers know it, but in text to specify to Egwene that that is what she means.

Maybe. Would we ever say “a week or seven days later”? I can’t imagine ever using that phrase.

I heard that Robert Jordan hadn't yet decided if a week in Randland was going to be 7 days or 10 days when he started writing, and once he decided on 10 days, that left some contradictions in the earlier books.

That may be another logical explanation.

Also: How much power was in there, really? Judging by the size of Rand and Ishamael's 'cords' :giggle :p, I assume Ishy had a TON of the True Power to draw from, while Rand didn't have much.
Later on in the books, it it much clearer just who is stronger than whom, and how much strength it takes to do x, y, and z.
The other strange thing I don't think we see again is someone who is not a Forsaken being able to see another person's connection with the True Source (at least until after Rand v. Semi) and the ability to literally cut that connection.

EDIT: Got home and took a look at the Compendium: there is a total of 4 sentences about EoTW, :rofl the final one is: "It was destroyed when it fulfilled its purpose related to the Dragon Reborn"

Chapter 46
We see Perrin's eyesight has improved on becoming a Wolfbrother
Agelmar expects Shienar to be overwhelmed
Why did Moiraine visit the Green man the first time - We never get an answer to this
Why does Moiraine think the rules don't apply to her? She's actually right, but is this luck or good judgement?
We hear that Two Rivers Tabac is very well regarded. Is this the first time?
The boys haven't yet taken up smoking
We get confirmation that it was Padan Fain following them, but really, this is not no surprise
Chapter 47
We hear Lan's story. Nynaeve pays extra attention. Rand notices, and Egwene had already picked up that Nynaeve had a special interest in him
Fain held something back. What? This is probably that he got caught my Mordeth
Why did the Black Wind flee Fain? We later get reason to believe he can control it.
Moiraine refers to Ba'alzamon as the Dark One. Really, she should have worked out that Ba'alzamon was one of the forsaken, but she was fixated on her bad information
Chapter 48
Perrin is also able to breath better in the Blight
Moiraine believes the Dark One's powers are weakest in full daylight. Is this true?
Nynaeve basically tells Lan she wants to marry him and he repsondes that he would if not for his war against the Shadow - We have seen their relationship develop, but it still feels like a lot must have happened off screen

I really wish Harriet would let someone other than Brandon finish the two other prequels, and the prequels could answer a lot of questions that have developed over the years, such as this one. Brandon is too busy now with his own stuff.

Jordan always wanted 3 prequels to my knowledge, shame we only got one.

What were they supposed to be focused on?

We did get New Spring - does that count as one of the three?

I wonder if RJ meant to do one on Demandred, or if that was tacked on later after he changed his mind about Taimandred...

I think one was supposed to be what Moiraine was doing just before she got to the Two Rivers, but I don't remember the third at all

Yeah, this time when I started reading EotW, I kept wondering how did she end up there exactly at this point and exactly at the time when Trollocs and Myrdraal came into the Two Rivers. So it would be good to know how she reached the Two Rivers and why it took her 19 years to do so :look:

Also, how tf did the DO find out that the boys are there? And why did it take him 19 years to do so :look: :P

I think part of this is explained when we hear of how Padan Fain was sent to hunt. He didn't know exactly what to look for at first, but he got closer and closer each year. Moiraine was chasing rumours basically, this is partially explained when Rand is confronted by her and the Amyrlin in Great Hunt.

And Brandon Sanderson have written a few excerpts from WoT in later days, it is in the books called "Unfettered" where many different authors write short stories in contribution. In the first one, he writes about how Demandred came to power in Shara, and one of the others is an alternate story of how Perrin cleanses the Ways.

I am just not really satisfied by these explanations though :P But then I guess we do not have anything better :cheeseeni: and it is a fantasy story in the end

To this, I shall use my new favorite acronym that I stumbled upon while archiving many, many TVT articles.
