Satara is rereading and has Thoughts(tm)

As I go through the series, I always pick up more bits and pieces than I do the time before. Always discovering something new.

That being said, this is just a place for me to put all those thoughts before I forget them and to see if it's been brought up before or what others think.

To start, I noticed that when Mat went through the redstone doorway in Tear and asked his questions, the Aelfinn looked above his head before they answered him and that immediately made me think of what Min does. One of the things that we never really get an answer to (that I'm aware of) is if Min has some kind of connection to the Finn and if her talent to see pieces of the Pattern actually comes from the Finn somehow.

This now has me wondering if perhaps someone made a wish for a child and as a result bloodlines were mixed. Sounds like the kinda Fae stuff the Finn would be up to.

That's what I was thinking, too, the more I rolled it around in my head.

Or someone went into the Finn's dimension and the price that they had to pay was a "curse" on their family line. Or maybe they even thought it was a gift.

Someone did something stupid like Mat asking for the holes in his memory to be filled and then it doesn't turn out the way they thought. Someone went in like "yes, I'd like my family to be able to determine the future" thinking they'd know the market for Saldaean ice peppers or politics or something, but nope. It's Min visions.

The Seanchan knew about what Min could do.

Doomseer is a Seanchan position for someone who is able to divine and interpret omens extremely skilfully. This position is highly respected in the Imperial Court. A true Doomseer is someone who is born with the ability to receive Viewings of future events in the Pattern, although Seanchan also knows that this ability is not tied to the One Power, as the Doomseers are very respected, unlike damane.

There have been no known individuals in Seanchan born with the ability to become a true Doomseer since c. 700 NE. When Empress Fortuona discovered that Min Farshaw was able to receive true Viewings, she immediately respected the woman and promoted her to Doomseer, despite Min's own objections to the totalitarian nature of Seanchan.

They know about the ability, I'll give you that. But I think @Satara al'Caelahn brings up an interesting idea since the ability could be related to the Finn, especially since even the Seanchan knows that the ability is not tied to the One Power.

Yeah, just because the Seanchan know of the ability doesn't confirm, deny, or even hint at the source of it. And since the "Finnlands" are an alternate dimension, that doesn't mean that the only place to access that dimension is the Tower of Ghengi or one of the redstone ter'angreal doorways. So the Seanchan might know of the Finn.

I just thought it was eerily similar to what Min does when they looked above Mat's head in order to answer his questions. But it was almost like they had a stronger version of what Min does, or at least had a more clear understanding of what they were seeing (if my assumptions are correct.)
