I have more thoughts but I have to gather them.

I just love the way you can see black threads mixing with Rand's channeling. The taint being visible is PERFECT.

I feel like this episode was the best one of the season, so far, which is saying something, because I believe this season has been tremendous and leagues better than the first.

This whole episode felt kinda slow compared to the first three, but hey, isn't slow expose stuff one of the hallmarks of WoT? :p

Looking forward to seeing how they handle Liandrin now. I'm glad we got the extra backstory with her because now it's making way more sense for her actions, without all that setup the non book viewers would be totally lost.

Really looking forward to seeing how they handle the damane in future episodes.

Honestly, I have no idea what's going on with Liandrin, because I cannot tell if she's doing all of these things to manipulate people. Is that poor man really her son and, if it is, could she just be using him for her own purposes?

Seemed to me like Liandrin told Nynaeve about Falme as a ploy to make her WANT to take Egwene out of the tower so she could get her banished and have Nynaeve to mold all for herself....and then she stops all 3 of them from sneaking out. So no clue what her show intentions will be.

With regard to Selene....I am a monster too! :cheeseeni:

I think that Liandrin doesn't just want Nynaeve for Red, but also for Black.

Honestly, I think this was Liandrins''s game from the start. And I don't think she will take the girls there herself now, since she knocked them out. Or maybe she will, and just make it very quick.
Also wondering where Siuan is, and when we will get the meeting between her and Rand, as the trailer showed...
Will everyone get to Falme by the end of the season, or will it be before that? And will the girls realise Rand is not dead at any point?

Why are they making the Forsaken some sort of immortals? I don't think it was mentioned in the books that they couldn't be killed by ordinary weapons. None of them are, asaik, but they probably could if caught unawares.

I like the detail with Min. It showed that Liandrin is aligned with Ishamael without making it obvious :) And of course something like that would be tempting for her :( I wonder though, will she take Mat to Cairhien, or will she run in the opposite direction, aka Falme ;)

When Moiraine asks for "a redheaded boy" why do they know that, when Rand has shaved his hair?"

I believe that one of the best things the show has done in adapting the books is in really nailing Lanfear.

This character, to this point, is very much how i read her in the books, both in appearance and motivations.

The actress who plays her was amazing in Peaky Blinders, and she is giving a wonderful performance here

The changes regarding how the Forsaken can apparently not die seems to be a good idea.

I think it would be too complicated to introduce them all, and then to introduce their reincarnated characters later in the series.

I imagine we will find out that the only way they can actually die is with Rand discovering balefire, or something the show introduces to that effect, and perhaps death via Mashadar.

I also doubt that all the forsaken will be introduced,

If, as it seems from this episode that Asmodeans role as tutor to Rand will be replaced by Logain, then I imagine there will be no need for him,

Perhaps, if the show continues past season 3, and hopefully it will, the forsaken will be limited to 5-6.

This also seems likely based on Ishamael being involved with Suroth, and therefore it seems unlikely that Semirhage would be introduced.

Ultimately, I can see the Forsaken being limited to,

Ishamael,
Lanfear,
Sammael,
Demandred,
Moghedien
Graendal/Mesaana.

It would make sense to me for their to be 3 male, and 3 female forsaken.

The above 6 are also quite different, with Graendal or Mesaana being an option either way.

There is simply no way the show is going to cast a woman for every single named Aes Sedai that there are in the books (6-700?).

Things have to be reduced to make sense in an 8 episode series, so the Forsaken would have to be simplified as well.

It is very likely the Forsaken "cannot" die because of the True Power. If you notice they focus on Lanfear's eyes at the end and you can see the Saa - the small black dots which move across the eyes of those who use the True Power extensively.
This is kinda similar to how hard Ishamael is to kill in the first 3 books until Rand severs his connection to the Dark One in the 3th book.

Also, it's very likely we will get 8 Forsaken based on the statues we see in Season 1 Episode 5. You can find more in this reddit thread

One of those Forsaken would be very likely Asmodean (there's a statue with of a dude with a guitar) . I don't see Logain teaching Rand for long. First he is not knowledgeable enough (compared to a Forsaken) and not in the mental state to be teaching anyone.

Interesting with the statues.

I suppose that could be significant, however just because the are in the 'lore' of the show there's no guarantee that they will make an appearance.

I feel that if the show gets a full run to completion then Moghedien, Demandred are pretty crucial. However based on how it seems quite a few character traits are being collated into one character in various ways (in areas other than the forsaken), I'm not we will see too many of them.

It certainly would be a shame if Asmodean did not appear, especially due to his end!

I hope they do not go down the line of Logain being a teacher for too long, it doesn't really make any sense unless things change quite drastically from our understanding of the books and the realities of a being a stilled male channeler and logains path.

Its interesting that Taim has already been name checked.

Regarding the True Power, I wonder if this will even be mentioned.

My main concern about the TV series is over simplification. Its an incredibly complicated 11 books (I consider 12-14 to be somewhat simplified in order to allow the series to be completed), and is simply unfilmable if you were trying to go chapter by chapter, never mind page by page.

However over simplification of the series in order to bring it to TV may very well end up losing too much of what made the books so layered and b e too detriment of the series.

On a side note, I forgot to mention in my original post, I think that Elayne is being portrayed quite well.

However, has she lost that 'superior annoying' side of her character a little too much? Perhaps as the main characters are all a little older than they are in the books, she is being played with more maturity than that of the Elayne we know from the first few books?

This season has gone from strength to strength in this first half in my opinion. Yes, there have been some big diversions, but so far they seem to be working for the show

+1 I agree, the diversions make sense for the story they are telling in this show.
