Do we want to start a TarValon.net Kiva Team?

Kiva allows you to make micro-loans to people in need. It's a loan, not a straight up donation, but once the loan is payed back, you can then reloan those funds back out. I put in $25 per month to lend out, plus lending out the repayments, so I've put in $840, but I've been able to lend out $2000. I like that you can choose to help people with education, arts, business or agriculture, and pick people in different countries to donate to.

I know that @Ne'Mireth Delvar used it. I have some on there from the repayments that have just been sitting there. What would a team do?

I think mostly it's just that when you do a donation, you can list it as being for a team, and then your team can "compete" with other teams.

If you've ever joined the Tar Valon team on like charity miles, it's basically a similar concept.

I love this idea! I also have an account for the same reason Dovi does and I have money sitting there. I can add more too. I just logged in and I can see where you can join a team and also start one. I would be interested if that's something we'd like to do.

You can donate whatever you want. The loan I did was only $25 and it's pretty much all paid back. Now I can loan it to someone else. If I use it more actively, I can add more money which is what I would like to do. Once a loan is repaid, you can loan it to another person. It's kinda revolving money once you do an initial loan/loans, if that makes sense, that you use for the purpose of helping others. So it's as much or as little as you want to contribute!

I think we all know we donate at varying levels. When I'm in a place to donate more, I do. When I'm not I do as little as $5 or $10, but when added to other loans or contributions it still helps. <3

Yeah, you don't cover the whole loan, just a piece of it. It's like go fund me, but a loan instead of a straight up donation.

One of the benefits of loaning as a team may be that if someone shares a project they believe in, if more of us also loan to it, the probabilities of its success at reaching funding goal is greater.
