Finally got to do a bit of reading this weekend! Some quick thoughts:

Spoiler: ch 16 relationship thoughts

For all that people rightly give Jordan a hard time about his ability to write romance, I do think he starts telegraphing Nynaeve and Lan's relationship here (pg 271 of my season 1 tie in cover edition). I remember not being surprised by their romance the first go around, and I think this scene is part of why. Also her defense of him and his tracking skills in ch 18/on pg 300 ("he was not seen")

How often do we see Fades talk? And does Moiraine ever grow larger than a house again?????

We see Mat shouting in the Old Tongue here (pg 302). I didn't realize how early that shows up!

Chapt 26, arrival to Whitebridge: am I dreaming or is Michael Kramer voicing the doubts in Rand's mind (one could say the seductive voice of the shadow) like he later voices Lanfear? Stroke of genius if you ask me...

Had a flight last night...so managed to arrive at Chapter 27. Wow, lots of foreshadowing going on. The Domon mentioning the Coramoor, the Tinkers mentioning the People and the "He who comes with the Dawn" and then the bar scene in Whitebridge. Like the contrast between Thom surreptitiously getting information and Rand just blurting out questions that endanger them.

Rand's recklessness is probably a symptom of channeling in Shadar Logoth
Plus claims there is a spire that kills anyone who gets close - I don't know that we ever hear of this again, so it might just be something he heard about and isn't real

Foreshadowing is also something we try and track in the notes, though it’s hard to be sure what is genuine foreshadowing and when we are just reading things into it.

Huzzah! Welcome aboard Mother. I made it to Chapter 31. It was fascinating to re-read the Perrin / Whitecloaks encounter. I hadn't realized that Perrin's admission was what brought the Two Rivers to the attention of the Whitecloaks.

Rereading Rand’s first nightmare was interesting with Mt. dhoom, dragonmount, and Tar Valon. Also his “almost memory” of Ishamael’s voice. The foreshadowing is impressive. Though even on my first read I did know who was the dragon as soon as I started chapter 1. It’s just fantasy standard that the hero is the first person introduced.
