How do we contact the legal representative in regards to hiring for shawl making?

It has now been raised that "Team Jordan" may have legal issues with our ajah paying someone to make our shawls (for those who do not sew). That they have copy written the tower shawls and the "flame", aka the lower half of the Tai Chi symbol, and therefore, we will be causing legal issues for the ajah and people in it.

So questions need to be answered please in regards to how we are supposed to proceed:

1. Do we, as Tower members, have the legal right to own, wear and make the shawls for our personal use to include the "flame" on the back?

2. If we do not sew at all, is the only way to get a shawl (if we have legal permission to own and wear one) is to be "gifted" the shawl with no money exchanged for reimbursement of materials and time to sew it?

3. If we do have the right to sew, own and wear an ajah shawl and can reimburse someone for making it (to include their time) what are the parameters within the law that we can do this?

If the person that we wish to sew all the shawls so that they are alike, is NOT making a public claim that they are WOT shawl seamstress, advertising that they sew shawls for WOT site, etc. does this work? As in, she is a professional seamstress that has a website in which she does sew medieval clothing, children's clothing and doll clothing. She will not and does not plan on advertising that she is making tower shawls for anyone or any website. She does need to funnel the money for personal clothing through her Etsy store and it would be classified as "personal clothing" and not advertised.

Calypsa said the site didn't have an issue, but it was raised by Muir and Jen that "Team Jordan" may have legal issues. Please advise.

I think Calypsa already answered this:

Miridy, are you asking if there are legal concerns from TarValon.Net, Inc.'s perspective? If so, the answer is no. You may hire whomever you choose to make shawls, socks, storm trooper armor, etc. as there is no professional relationship between the organization and any independent contractors of this type of good. Any deal that you make with a private individual is just that: private.

If you are asking about legal ramifications not related to our organization, you should consult a licensed attorney privately as to your options. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to e-mail me at administration@ and I will try to steer you further.

this I think is what is holding our ajah up in contracting with this person. Jen and Muir are raising real concerns. Does Hammer O'Justice have the answers or do we just pm calypsa? We really need clarification.

Calypsa's point was, as I read it, that because this is not a site matter, it would be inappropriate for the site's legal team to advise you on it. Their client (TarValon.Net, Inc.) is not implicated, so it would be in violation of legal ethics for them to issue formal guidance on the point. Caly may be able to give advice on how to proceed in answering your questions if you send her an e-mail at administration@tarvalon.net, but the Tower's legal team will not be able to answer your questions directly.

I could be wrong, but the impression I received was that Calypsa would point you in how to find an attorney in your area. ;) This is beyond the scope of what Hammar O'Justice does in his role as Tower Counsel. :)

Indeed. I could point you to some websites that could help you to locate a local attorney or I could suggest that you could contact Team Jordan directly, Miridy, but that is the extent to our organization's involvement with this. Your request is way out of scope for what we can legally offer. Sorry!

Also, saying much more could push Caly into the realm of legal advice, which she is not allowed to to, so it isn't just a case of "not our problem", but also "We are very limited by professional rules and ethics"
