With Reniel taking on the position of Company Commander of Val Cueran, we in the Department of Events and Conferences wish to thank and reluctantly say farewell to our wonderful Mistress of Revels Europe. Unlike MoR North America, the MoR EU is responsible for one party a year, with the party alternating between continental Europe and Britain/Ireland. Reniel has graciously consented to staying on as mentor while this transition takes place.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Solicit proposals for each European Event. Advise members of proposal requirements and aide in preparation of proposals as requested.
- Work with Amyrlin, Keeper, Shatayan, Director of E&C and Selection Committee to choose a location for each European Event.
- Work with Local Liaison and Director of E&C to plan details of the event.
- Organize and Delegate. You will need to work with a team of committee leaders, committee members, local liaison, site contacts, and TarValon.Net executives, often at the same time.
- Crisis Management. No matter how much pre-planning you do, the unexpected will happen. Recognizing issues early and addressing them calmly and promptly is key.
- Share insights with other MoRs to ensure continually improving events.
- Attendance at the European Event each year.
Requirements
- Must be a member of any rank in good standing for at least one year.
- Must have attended at least one official real life event.
- Bonus points for attendance at more than one event, more than one kind of event (Anni vs. Fall Ball vs. Euro, etc.), and/or significant committee participation.
- Must be able and willing to travel to the European event at your own expense.
- The event ticket is covered for MoR, but not transportation or other expenses.
- Must be professional.
- You represent our community with outside organizations such as lodging options and vendors, and potentially negotiate contracts with these groups.
- You also communicate regularly with our membership about serious topics, so you need to be clear in your communications.
- You are held accountable for the responsible management of the funds many of our members pay to attend events. Professionalism, high-performance, and self-starting are mandatory.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- You must be able to think logically through the entire event and all needs for members. Everything from transportation, food, activities, payments, registration, marketing, budgeting, materials, decorations, room assignments, negotiations with the site, etc.
- Must be organized and discreet.
- There is a lot of information to keep track of, including legal contracts with the facilities, schedules, and registration information including medical and person data which must be kept confidential.
- Must be able to dedicate at least 15 hours per week to this role.
- This role has some flexibility in when things must be done, considering there is only one event per year, however as the event gets closer, the amount of work increases.
