This position was created last fall and filled by Calypsa, our new Director of Administration, so you know she left some great-big shoes to be filled! I want to first take a moment to thank Calypsa for all her hardwork in this position, her wonderful contributions to the Department of Community Outreach, and all her help. Its been a great pleasure getting to know Caly and getting to work with her. Many congratulations again on the Directorship!!!

That said, I need to wipe away my tears and move forward. I am now hiring a new Community Care Coordinator and it could be YOU! Please read all of the following post if you are interested in applying as it is peppered with useful information.

Overview

The Community Care Coordinator is an admin position in the Department of Community Outreach, working directly with the Director of Community Outreach on internal functions of the department including small pop-up fundraisers and outreach events (think Heart Healthy February and the Blood Drive for Boston), marketing for both our annual and Feast of Lights fundraiser, maintaining the departments wiki, and internal communications via the Tower Voices and the TarValonTimes.

I am really excited to bring someone new into this position who can assist to streamline the Department of Community Outreach and maintaining an active and regular presence throughout the Wheel of Time community, the TarValon.Net community, and throughout our greater local and off-site communities.

Requirements

• Must be a Senior Member in good standing with the Tower.
• Must be able to dedicate 10-15 hours per week to this position, though the specific time needed will fluctuate.
• Must be active, very organized, and have the ability to pay attention to details.
• Must have good interpersonal skills as you will be working directly with Members and Staff in a leadership role.
• Must stay in contact with the Director of Community Outreach.
• Experience or a willingness to learn Wiki editing.
• Experience with Google Drive (Docs) is a plus!

Duties

The Community Care Coordinator will have several primary functions dealing with internal (to the site) aspects of the Department of Community as follows:

• Pop-Up Fundraisers and Awareness activities

This will include brainstorming, leading staff, working with the Director and other Execs and Officers as well as the Outreach Activities Team to collaborate activities and campaigns to promote fundraisers and awareness activities, i.e.: pink ribbon hunt and donations to Komen for the Cure. This will emphasize small fundraising goals.​

• Communications to the TarValon.Net community
• Maintaining Department Wiki
• marketing for Annual Fundraiser
• marketing internally for the FOL fundraiser

This is exactly what I do for my real life job, so it would have been awesome to apply. But ehn, senior membership. oh wells.

Anyone who is interested and is a JM, please feel free to apply in a similar format to join the department staff. If you are interested in this sort of work it can truly be both fun and rewarding and we can always use the extra hands!

Department staff are going to be busy for the rest of the year working on the upcoming annual fundraiser, we've got fun plans for out Feast of Lights fundraiser and don't forget that Outreach will be active at our upcoming real-life events as well. There are many opportunities for all to get involved.
