Yes. Remember Luc/Isam is also Slayer, that Perrin battles
That was my FAVORITE BATTLE.
Do you feel Dumai's Wells was a turning point in the wrong direction for Rand with a sort of course correction after he's bonded willingly? I just moved on to Crown of Swords and I want to smack him.
Path of Daggers, Verin has the thought that curiosity has made her climb into "more than one pickling kettle."
A Crown of Swords is one of my favourites, mostly because of the Kin.
Yes, she is a curious one, Verin. One of my fave characters. The extent of her curiosity is quite astounding toward the end of the series!
She also notes that it had been 55 (I think) years since she had made a "very serious mistake."
Also, I kind of rolled my eyes at myself when I read it this time around, because what she was doing at the time was *very* morally ambiguous.
But also pretty awesome in a way . . .
You're not wrong.
Still, I think with that scene, I should have known where her alliances would eventually be revealed to lie.
I really didn't see it coming, to be honest.
Moiraine warned that she was not to be trusted, but I didn't expect that. Still, I think she redeemed herself in the end, and not expecting even then that she would really escape her ultimate fate. But her last acts were for the cause of the Light.
That's true, that's true. That's one of my favorite redemption scenes ever...
I suspect Jordan was telling us about her so we would know how she was able to do what she did, but wanted us to like her so we'd understand her motives.
Yeah, reading the second book, I was like: "I should have known already here " She flat out lies right then, when she claims Moiraine sent her...
And what could be more Brown than what she did?
Chapter 16 of Path of Daggers, Sheriam is visited by a mystery person she was supposed to keep informed of what the Amyrlin is up to.
In New Spring, Moraine states that Verin says Tinker girls never want to channel or become Aes Sedai. But then the one she knows applies herself with determination and success. Specifically she says ,"It must be so, since Verin had said it, yet..."
In Winter's Great, Verin and Sorilea walk in on Cadsuane with Sorilea telling her to be careful with how many drops she puts in her drink because she may not wake if she uses too many.
In The Great Hunt, after the Trolloc attack it Fal Dara, a message is found written in blood on the walls of the dungeon where Padan Fain had been kept. One of the messages was written by a Fade, suggested by the better handwriting, that mentions Luc/Isam by name and tells what happened to them. It is the 3rd verse:
Isam was overrun by shadowspawn with his mother while they were escaping the fall of Malkier, when he was a baby or toddler. Luc was told he needed to go to the Blight by the same Aes Sedai who told Tigraine that she needed to become a Maiden, and who also gave the Foretelling in the presence of Moiraine, Siuan, and the then Amyrlin Seat about the birth of Rand.
Winter's Heart also gives more info on Luc and Isam.
