This is a season of celebration for many of us, and it’s also a season of giving. This month, the Servant of All Team is celebrating and supporting the giving efforts of our community members. Please share the cause(s) that you are focused on right now. Our Cause, is Your Cause! :grouphug:

I just want to publicly thank my team for all the support and teamwork they've provided while I've been battling some medical issues (lingering migraines for over a month). This was supposed to be my post but they all pitched in and got the topic ready!

Thank you @Alexr al'Petros , @Polegnyn Nemeara and @Idine Espanyas for being true Servants Of All!

Our local high school has a club called Lift LC. It was formed after several student died by suicide. They try to uplift students and let them know they are cared for. I contribute monetarily and however I can to try to stop teen suicide in my county. One thing the club does is have a monthly birthday party for everyone who's birthday is in that month. They have cupcakes and drinks. They also take little bags of goodies to every student in the elementary/middle school in the county. Every student receives one. It is just to let students know they are seen and cared for.

This time of year there are many causes that come to mind. The local food bank, the local disability non-profit, and many others. Our family has reached a point where we donate in each other's names instead of giving holiday gifts. We all have too many items in our houses and would rather give to others in our community as we can instead.

As a reminder, Extra Life is still accepting donations for their 2023 fundraising. If anyone would like to make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network on behalf of a friend or family member I have can provide the donation link in a DM.

I know I talked about domestic violence a lot last month (thank you again for giving me the platform to do so) but I'm back talking about it again!

My sister-in-law runs FinAbility, a nonprofit dedicated to helping domestic violence survivors reach financial independence and help them rebuild their lives and finances. If you haven't yet picked a charity to support with holiday giving and are looking for one, I highly recommend them. Your money can go a long way towards helping survivors. Here's a link to their donations page.

One of my biggest causes is care, support, and education around pregnancy loss. I donate frequently to Through the Heart, which provides educational materials as well as care packages and other support to people dealing with this loss. It's especially important to me this time of year, when I'm grieving hardest. It helps me to think maybe I am helping someone else with donations.

There are couple of causes that are equally important to me right now. One is pet health and nutrition, which I learned to be passionate about through my current job. While I'm now looking to change jobs due to poor management, I will never stop helping people figure out what changes they can make to their pets' diets and habits so that they can avoid unnecessary vet visits and have longer to spend with their fur babies. I've advised people about it several times outside of work (including in the Tower!) and would like to get a certification as a Clinical Pet Nutritionist someday.

The other cause is more broad. Environmental and climate change causes have become very important to me lately, enough that I'm hoping to go back to school to get a degree in Conservation Law Enforcement to become a Park Ranger. I can't give financially to the various organizations that deal with these causes, but I sign a lot of petitions. The Nature Conservancy and Yellowstone to Yukon are two organizations in particular that I follow.

Yes, thank you everyone for sharing what Causes are dear to your hearts :grouphug:

My family has had a lot of Makers and my degree has put me in touch with all sorts of media over the years. So when someone needs a break or needs to unwind, knowing enough to get someone started, I’m there with options for some sort of outlet, especially creative. Even toyed with the idea several years ago of going back to school for Art Therapy because of this.

In high school, I always enjoyed being involved in fundraisers for organizations such as St. Jude. Toward the latter part of college, there was a desire to work for service organizations instead of businesses. A child on the way made me less picky, though. The desire to work for service orgs still exists and probably explains why the SoA Team has been so enjoyable. Aside from that, I was involved a lot with my church's Arts & Environment group up until Covid. Then volunteered here at TV.Net in various capacities while still looking to find something local to fill in the services opportunities my kiddos’ were “required” to participate in during their years in primary and middle school.

All that to say, at the end of the day, I enjoy simply being another set of hands to another's cause even if not my own. Helping someone find a way to decompress, especially if it's a creative outlet, really makes my heart sing though :)

Eta: Forgot to add the trail work Mr. Nem and I do when a call for volunteers is made and schedule allows.

My current new cause is preventing textile waste. I volunteer regularly at a fabric (and more!) recovery site, and I run a clothing exchange for the uniforms at my kid's school, which I am hoping to expand to other campuses in the area.
