Atlanta is a bit closer (20 minutes or so). The airport cost varies. Depending on where you are coming from, Chattanooga or Atlanta could be cheaper. Chattanooga has direct flights to some cities, and those fares tended to be cheaper than flying to Atlanta. If you are flying in from overseas, I'd recommend Atlanta though. The Chattanooga airport is not international.

In regards to Tree's comment about the location and its relative location to other events:

It was brought up during discussion that probably the first thing that would be pointed out if we went with this location is "Hey, that's where all those other events are!", but seriously- we have to evaluate a lot of different things with bidding out events: location, weather, cost of venue, subsequent cost of ticket, layout of venue (both inside buildings and out), distance to airport, etc when the decisions are being made. Also, we can only go with the bids for locations that we receive, so if there's concern that there isn't enough going on in the western half of the country, nevermind the west coast itself, then we need some more folks out that way willing and able to send us awesome bids to choose from. I do like that our events give us the chance to go places we've never been, but the west coast bid was a tricky bit of business because of a lot of those same variables. Even still, it was an awesome event and I had a great time, and expect this upcoming Anni to be just as awesome for lots of different reasons.

We can't please everyone, even though we do try- but if you want a party to be a specific place, then make sure that you (or someone you can talk into it) gets a bid in for us.

Having said that, looking forward to it! :joy

Huntsville is generally very very expensive to fly in and out of... unless you can find a deal by booking WAY in advance.

Also keep in mind how much plane ticket prices can fluctuate. It depends on sales, how far out you're looking, and the day/time you're looking. Looking on weekends is a bad idea...prices are much more expensive then. The best time to look is Tuesday around noon. Maybe if you check tomorrow things will look better. And if not, look again the next week. We still have some time to wait for prices to come down.

Looking up the specific location, that's pretty far NW of Atlanta. (I lived around N ATL about a year ago.)

My gut reaction is to ride, (you can take the local train called MARTA from the Southernmost train line all the way to the very top of the city (it takes a little over an hour.) The little station for the train is located *inside* the airport so it is very simple to buy a ticket from a machine and get on, and it's pretty cheap. Then we could potentially rent a vehicle and drive up to the park. I'm thinking rentals will be cheaper in the suburbs than at the airport, and it's less driving...
