Hi, I'm Aliza. I started the Wheel of Time at the beginning of the year, and I actually just finished A Memory of Light last night (This morning? Let's just call it somewhere around 2 a.m.). I think my favorite character is Mat, because . . . well, does one even need a reason for loving Mat? My favorite book is The Gathering Storm; I suppose it's because I have a rather morbid tendency to enjoy seeing my favorite characters at their lowest and darkest. I first started reading the Wheel of Time because a friend who saw how much I loved The Lord of the Rings and Dune, and recommended The Wheel of Time to me.

Hello all,

I must say this is quite terrifying for me. I'm not one to join online forums to celebrate my fandoms, much less participate in them as I don't typically have the time or energy; but I have been experiencing some strong connections to various characters and plot points in The Wheel of Time (both book and tv series), and this seems like the right community to explore them with.

Anyway, call me Freagar (he/him). It's the name of my first character while playing Lord of the Rings Online. He was an area of effect sword wielding champion hailing from the rebuilt city of Dale. It felt like a proper tribute to a goal of becoming gaidin, though I might lack the discipline needed.

I've listened to the full series on Audible, two and a half times through (currently on Lord of Chaos). I look to get a nice set of physical copies sometime in my near future. I've watched the Amazon series through season 2 twice at this point. It's hard to name a single favorite character... I'd follow Lan into the Blight, I'd lose my pay playing cards with Mat, I'd let Myn break my heart, I'd scheme with Thom, and I might even turn to the dark for Ishamael (planned post for this later).

Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for the encouragement from Leala ni al'Dareis t'al'Caleum and Rhyin al'Hut, and excited to be here.

Freagar, I feel ya. I too am new and have the same nervousness, but I will say I've never had anything but good experiences with Wheel of Time fans, most especially at JordanCon. Good luck, and looking forward to the planned post...
