When last the issue of who can have access to what Ajah/Company forums came up (I think in Ask the White Tower), the stated policy was that member groups are responsible for determining who shall and shall not have access to their forums, and that if they wanted to make exceptions (for three demoted ex-AS who still had access to MDD's forum, in the instance that comes to mind), that was up to them. As long as everyone actually in the community group was ok with it, so was the administration. Just to be clear, is that policy determination being reversed?

No. The only people allowed in the company are: the Gaidin, their bondmates, aspirants and those guesting with the company as unaspired soldiers. Same for the Ajahs.

This was never the policy. The official rule remains unchanged. Some groups had taken a vague phrase in their forum descriptions ("and their invited guests") to argue this meant they could add whomever they wished. This is not the case, at least for right now. As was stated, we fully intend to take this issue up again at next years meeting. :)

It seems like they will be able to, with the broader and more accessible forums, see the value of becoming part of the Tower more for it's merits and less as a necessity to feel included.

And easier for them to get the first 25 posts. ;)

So... If I'm so not cool with this AT ALL, who should I send a formal complaint to? (Don't give me that "this is how it's gonna be" bs. Things have changed, and are likely to change again, and even quicker if people speak up. ;) )
I don't want to bitch in this thread, so I won't tell you what I'm not comfortable with. You'll read my email when it comes ;)

oh, okay. I just assumed that this was someone else, since it had nothing to do with membership. My bad. Thanks for clearing that :)

I have faith that your Membership Admin knows who to ask to answer your question on your behalf if you are unsure who to ask. If you're not comfortable with the answer received, I'd suggest emailing that person's commanding officer until you find the answer. Or a dead end.

I love these changes! I like the new layout for the interests groups, it seems like it'll be MUCH easier to adjust for changing interests than ever before.

I would like to be able to have some people back in our forum, that's a company thing though. Site wide I could see how that was never going to work, it's a shame really from my perspective. That's not really a change though, I just thought it appropriate to point out as it's been brought up a time or two...

Who can I email to express my support of this all to as I LOVE this set of notes and the direction it's going? Don't give me the "it's the way it is line" line either! I want to know who to encourage to continue changing in this direction!

This thread has notes for Membership & Moderators: I'd thank those Directors, directly, I guess? Since the Keeper already reiterated that the topic of "invited guests" will be revisited, then I'd play the pause & regroup. Compromise can become a pleasant surprise for everyone, especially when "cooler heads" prevail. :grouphug
