I used to hang around here a while back, though not in any serious capacity. Mostly I enjoyed all the theorizing that went on in the library. With AMoL out now, I wanted to come back and chat some more. I'll be starting my AMoL reread once my husband finishes up (he's slooowwww), and then a full blown reread after that!
Well, I'm boring so here are the form questions:
1. Favorite WoT character and why?
Moiraine. She kind of started it all, really. But also, as a teenager reading these books for the first time (WAY back when), she was the epitome of a strong, in control woman. She always struck me both as an amazing and also tragic character. She was married to her work, which left little time for anything else, which she was OK with but it obviously took its toll. I don't know, I can't fully explain it, but I just found her incredible, and she's the only character that I think Sanderson didn't handle well in the transition.
2. How did you find us?
The interwebz, of course. Google searches for WoT theories and such. Been lurking here for YEARS, even before the last time I set up an account.
3. What do you do (student, job, etc)?
I work in a biological research lab that studies glaucoma, and I tutor high school students in biology and chemistry on the side. I'm in the process of getting back to school, though, to get a chem MS in order to teach.
4. Favorite book/author (other than WoT)?
Robert Heinlein. Almost anything by him. Not sure what my most favoritest of his stuff would be. Also I've become a big fan of Brandon Sanderson's stuff since he started writing the WoT.
Ummmm, other things about me.
I have a neurotic dog whom I take pictures of incessantly.
I play World of Warcraft (Eluial is also my WoW moniker. Balance druid -- I'm pretty active on the forums there if anyone else hangs out on the druid forums ever.).
I play D&D (well, Pathfinder, actually).
My favorite dessert is the cinnamon roll.
The only reason I didn't finish AMoL in less than 24 hrs is because I got sick the day before it came out, so wasn't able to take off work for the release day (took me two days).
I started reading WoT when I was 14 (I'm now 28).
