So the thing that really irked me was that I was expecting a big blow-up in the Seanchan culture - namely the fact that the sul-dam can channel. But that never happened. And I really wanted to read that! :(
But on the bright side, at least the Seanchans were a big help in the Last Battle, so that's a plus.
Thoughts? :D

I'd imagine a greater earthquake once Tuon talked to Arthur Hawkwing :P
But such changes take time, a LONG time, I'd expect.

I was also let down by the lack of explosion, I was REALLY wanting to see how Tuon and Mat would deal with it, as well as whether Tuon would learn to channel.

I think Tuon would never learn to channel, her beliefs about channelers are just ingrained too deep. But some big changes would certainly happen in the Seanchan empire, so, you never know (and we never will :( )

I wanted to read the scene between Tuon and Hawkwing.I think the outrigger novels where supposed to deal with the Seanchan but unfortunately they're not going to be written.
and remember the line :
A legend states that in a time of dire need, the imperial family will return there and "right that which is wrong" !
So we can imagine a better future for the channelers under the Seanchan empire.

or it could have simply been The Return coming and creating peace from the chaos that came with the Dragon appearing in Falme.

I'm sure I saw someone saying that we'd get some details of Tuon's conversation with Hawking in the Encylopedia thing which is coming out.

I think it'll take a long time to change anything, if it will change. And let's face it - the sul'dams were still collaring people at the end of the book, though I have this vague memory of it being a sort of "No allies, enemies only" thing (I could be totally misremembering that though). Even if somehow, Tuon did decide to anger almost every person in the Empire by declaring channellers to be not dangerous (which would require a massive shift in her own way of thinking) then it'd take a long time to filter down. And the thing is - the damane wouldn't necessarily want to be freed anyway. The true Seanchan ones (or ones who have been there long enough) are broken to believe that they are no better than animals who need to be controlled. Undoing that would take years, if it were even possible (witness the efforts with the damane that did get freed during the course of the book).

I think the best which could be hoped for is some kind of decree that from X date onwards, no new damane would be leashed, and any girl with the spark would be free to travel to the White Tower to train (and again, there would need to be a huge cultural shift for people to accept that). As for the sul'dams... I don't know. Perhaps the same kind of amnesty could be arranged, but you'd have to get them accepting that they could learn to channel. As there's no danger to them as long as they don't start... I think a fair number would choose to ignore it/dismiss it as lies.
