I dunno, I think they did a pretty good job explaining via the entire season via Logain & Owen about why Male Channelers are terrifying.

It looks basically similar to the shield they had on Logain, but ol' Ishmael is strong enough to do it and tie it off. Maybe we'll get some payoff early with it. Lanfear knew how to undo a male channeler weave as long as you know where it is and what it's made of.
