Chapter 38
Mat doesn't know to eat the oysters raw.
Also: Do oysters have the same aphrodisiac reputation, and that's why Tylin sent them?
Elayne has no sympathy for Mat, thinks he's getting a taste of his own medicine.
mat offers Elayne the foxhead medallion and she immediately returns it.
Mat...
Yeah, they went to watch Carridin, which I agree, seems odd. But then, Elayne et al didn't expect trouble. The Wise Women in particular didn't expect trouble, because they're Wise Women. No one was on their guard. :/
I just got a little squirm of excitement about the Black Ajah hunt, and about Egwene eventually coming to the Tower, and just...everything we have to look forward to. ^^ (Definitely not counting Perrin and Faile's story in that. :look )
I did think about that last night when I was posting. And it's a valid point, he can use his own money to buy food.
But when one stays with someone at the host's invitation, and all the rest of your party is getting food supplied from the host, it's a reasonable expectation that you will also...
So. Tylin.
In Chapter 28, she first forces herself on Mat. She forces herself into his lap. He tries to escape, but A) She's the Queen. She has the power in this situation. B) She's a woman, and he's been taught not to hurt women and to be considerate of them. C) She has a big bloody knife...
Omg, all the notes.
Chapter 27
Loial & Karldin go off to the stedding to talk to the Ogier about Waygates.
Rand throws Perrin across the room.
Perrin has realized that Faile likes shouting arguments.
Loial sees that Rand is sening all his friends away.
Wait: Perrin and Rand's fight was just a...
Yep, sorry, didn't mean to imply you still thought that. But some people do, and use that to excuse Tylin's actions.
Meg, that's a good point. My personal view: I think Mat has a tendency to leer and overflirt, but I don't think he'd take it to the lengths Tylin does, or anywhere near that. I...
And I just read the part where Mat feels constantly unsafe, and where Tylin had him dragged to her chambers by servingwomen, and where she's ordering new clothes for him, and where she's moved him into her chambers without his say-so.
Like.... I don't know how anyone can look at this...
Re: Re-Readalong: A Crown of Swords: Chapters 34-38
And I think the argument of Mat getting a taste of his own medicine doesn't stand up. He thinks, at least twice, that he doesn't chase women who say no. I have a list of reasons this wasn't a consensual relationship that'll I'll put up in here...

Chapter 22
"juicy as a fiddler" :giggle :look
The dice stopped when Mat had to move to the palace.
Setalle thinks there are only about 50 women in the Circle.

Chapter 18
Alanna doesn't get used to the pain the way Rand has. It never fades for her, and she can't seem to block it. It's always "raw grief" to her, always fresh.
I wonder if the Wise Ones not participating in battle is inherited from...
