I notice a lot of people seem to be having issues with GrumpyBumper and showing the "technical difficulties " picture. Logging in to it seems to have resolved it for me. I now also have an alternative as this one seems to conk out quite a bit: http://sigrotor.com/

I use photobucket as an image hoster, it's free, but I'm sure there's loads out there if you need one.
