Uh, what? She spends most of the entire series working for things. She mostly just actively lied about being a full Aes Sedai before she was, and there were a few things she needed to keep close to the vest due to fears of Black Ajah stuff. And I have no idea what you mean about "the idiot hat"...

So, it seems like most people are at least annoyed by Faile -- does she have any unmitigated redeeming qualities that I've somehow missed? Someone's gotta like her somewhere... Right?

Faile and Nynaeve. I'd love Perrin if it weren't for Faile, but as it is, he just kind of makes me go -_-;;;
