Maybe it's just because I finally feel like I'm completly on a roll with the series now - I'm recognizing all the place names, minor characters, etc much more than before and feeling fully invested

It may be a result of listening to rather than reading the books, but I didn't find Faile to be as grating as some other characters at times (not mentioning any names :look). I'm looking forward to hearing how your feelings about her change (if they do)!

I only wish he got more time to shine! I know in-text the characters all get impatient with his musings (ramblings, perhaps) but I for one really enjoy them. And he can be a badass when needed, which doesn't hurt.
