I thoroughly enjoyed this, and intend to pick up a copy of White Sands, which I had ignored until now. Reading the graphic novel portion on my phone was annoying, but I enjoyed the story.

Something just crossed my mind. It is possible that some of the other Forsaken were supposed to drop what they were doing and head to Shayol Gul when Rand advanced there however he used misdirection to confuse which battle he was taking part in and then used the dagger ter'angreal to hide...

LTT also FAILED. Attempting the same tactics as LTT used quite possibly would have led to Rand failing as well. He tried a different tactic and the end result was better than LTT achieved.
